He has worked with a number of well-known clients to gain digital momentum since the beginning of his career.[3]

Early life and education

Hemi was born on 10th June 1977 in Lalpur, Bangladesh. Hemi grew up in a middle-class family with five siblings, him being the youngest one. His father was a government employee, and his mother was a housewife.

As a kid, Hemi was an avid fan of Cricket and dreamed of becoming a professional cricket player. He even participated in several tournaments, honing his all-rounder skills. But his family pushed him to focus more on studying rather than the game. His father wanted him to pursue a career in medicine, which eventually became impossible due to Hemi's average grades. This resulted in him and his father coming to an impasse, and his father refused to talk to him.

In 1996, his father retired from the government job, and his family suffered financially, trajecting towards poverty. At this time, Hemi was 19 years old and decided to start his career in order to support his family. Upon moving to Australia, Hemi also acquired a bachelor’s degree in Business Information Systems in 2007.

Career

Hemi started his career as a teenager to financially support his family. To do so, he moved to Dhaka with some of his friends and began hunting for job opportunities. He took up several temporary jobs to keep a steady income and help his family in such trying times. Simultaneously Hemi also learned to put computer parts together from scratch by himself and honed his skills over time resulting in getting more job opportunities on the basis of that. Later, a company that Hemi was working for, offered him a contract to teach Microsoft Excel at the Australian High Commission and asked him to run this program.[7]

In 2002 as an analyst programmer at MPA. After working for a year at this firm, he joined Selectus as a senior business analyst, where he served for a year and then began working at ANZ on a similar post. After serving for over two years at this firm, Hemi, in 2006, joined City West Water as a senior business analyst, where he stayed for over a year.[8]

In 2008, Hemi became a lead business analyst for MYOB focusing on online product development. After a brief period of six months at this firm, Hemi joined Telstra as a business operations manager. During his tenure of nine years with this firm, Hemi assumed the roles of a strategy & analytics manager and senior strategy & governance manager.

In 2016, Hemi became the CEO of Melbourne Metropolitan College where he is currently working. In the same year, he also founded Grow With Hemi, an Exclusive Coaching program designed to help people become successful digital entrepreneurs. Three main programs by Hemi are Transform from an Employee to a Digital Entrepreneur, Leadership with Excellence, and Power of Social Media. In 2020, Hemi became the CEO of Digital Entrepreneurs Hub, an Edu-Tech platform, Digital Influencer Media, a marketing & advertising firm, and DG Hub24, an online marketplace[9] that aims at empowering freelancers to gain traction in the digital space.

Apart from that, Hemi is also a renowned keynote speaker and has addressed numerous events on the topics of business development, digital entrepreneurship, and others. He has also authored a best-selling book titled Fire Your Boss.[10]
