Heather Anne Nesti (born November 7, 1972) is a board-certified Ophthalmologist who practices in Annapolis, Maryland at the Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center. In addition to her position at the Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center as a glaucoma/cataract specialist, she also serves as the Co-Chief of the Ophthalmology Department at the Anne Arundel Medical Center|Anne Arundel Medical Center. Nesti also maintained the title of Co-Chief Resident throughout her residency at the Wills Eye Hospital.[1]

Early Life and Education

Nesti was born on November 7th, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She grew up in Philadelphia, P.A., along with one sister and her parents. As a young child, Nesti focused more on her academic life rather than the social or athletic sections.

At the age of 18, Nesti attended the University of Delaware, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology and graduating receiving the cum laude award. After her attendance at the University of Delaware, Nesti attended the Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where she completed a Transitional Internship. She also completed a residency at the Wills Eye Hospital with the title of Co-Chief Resident. Finally, to earn the Medical Doctor title, Nesti attended Jefferson Medical College and graduated in 1999. Nesti met her husband, Leon Nesti, at the college. They married shortly after their meeting.

Career

After the completion of her residency at the Wills Eye Hospital and the earning of her medical doctor title at the Jefferson Medical College, Nesti joined her practice, the Chesapeake Eye Care and Laser Center, over 15 years ago as a board-certified Ophthalmologist. Throughout her time at the practice, she has worked on cases involving Cataracts and Glaucoma, as well as performing the occasional Lasik procedure. [2]

Eventually, Nesti chose to sell her practice to Vision Innovations, enlarging the scale of her business. Nesti still maintains the business partner title at her practice. [1]

Nesti still maintains her position as the Co-Chief of the Ophthalmology Department at the Anne Arundel Medical Center, in addition to positions at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Research

Dr. Nesti researches the latest practices/techniques on cataract surgery and glaucoma surgery, as well as new laser technology and novel intraocular lens options.[1]

Personal Life

Nesti lives in Annapolis, Maryland, and is married to Leon Nesti. She has three children: Heidi, Richard, and Charles.
