Harold Land, Jr. (born April 25, 1950, in San Diego, CA) is an American Jazz pianist.
Life and Career
Harold Land, Jr. was born to Harold Land and Lydia Land in San Diego, California. Five years later the family moved to Los Angeles, where Harold was raised in a world of jazz through his father's acclaimed career. Harold began piano lessons at the age of 7, and began performing in jazz clubs by the age of 16 [1]. Over his career, spanning jazz, Funk, and Jazz Fusion, Land has worked with Marvin Gaye, Roy Ayers, Gerald Wilson, Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Hutcherson, Kenny Burrell, Pharoah Saunders, Lee Morgan, Eric Gale, and Roland Kirk.[1][2][3][4] Notable tours include the eastern and southern United States with Marvin Gaye, and Nigeria with Roy Ayers and Fela Kuti. He performed often with Harold Land Sr., and has placements on three of his albums, Choma (Burn), Damisi, and Xocia's Dance.[1][3]
