Suhr-Jessen is from Virum, Denmark just outside the capital city Copenhagen. He is the son of Carl Bernt Suhr-Jessen and Birgitte Lie Suhr-Jessen, founder of Content Publishing. He also has two younger sisters, Elisabeth Lie Suhr-Jessen and Louisa Lie Suhr-Jessen. He played youth basketball for his hometown team Virum Vipers from 2007-13 before moving to SISU Basketball in 2013. He continued playing there until 2015, where he was granted a double license to play for the Virum 1st Division men's team while also competing for the SISU U19 team in what was his final official youth season. After the 2015-2016 season, he fully returned to Virum to compete in the 1st division. During his high school years from 2013-2016 he was also a part of the Danish men's basketball youth national team.
Suhr-Jessen played American football for the Søllerød Gold Diggers in the 2015-16 season where he played wide receiver. He was named Offensive Rookie of the Year and led his team in receiving yards and total touchdowns en route to win a Danish National Championship title in 2016. In the Summer of 2016 upon graduating high school, he traveled to The Hill School in Pottstown, Pennsylvania to play AAU basketball for Alexander Basketball Academy Global Squad.
College career
During his AAU season he was recruited by head coach Keith Dickson and assistant coach Chris Santo to continue his playing career in college. He committed to playing at Saint Anselm College in the NCAA's Northeast-10 Conference. Suhr-Jessen was a four-year starter for the nationally ranked Hawks. He is currently tied with classmate Chris Paul for most consecutive starts in school history with 120 games. From 2017 to 2022 the Hawks amassed four regular season championships, a NCAA DII East Regional Championship leading to a Final 4 appearance in the 2018-19 season, and a NE10 Conference Championship in 2020. The entire 2020-2021 season was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He served three years as team captain for head coach Keith Dickson and five years as a team representative in the Student Athlete Advisory Committee while being selected for the Northeast-10 Academic Honor Roll 5 times.
