Greg Everett is an American Olympic weightlifting coach and author.

Coaching

Everett coaches the Olympic sport of weightlifting through his USA Weightlifting team, Catalyst Athletics. He coaches nationally and internationally competitive lifters from the US as well as other countries including Canada, Denmark, Slovakia and Estonia.[1][2][3]

He and his wife, Aimee Anaya Everett, are the first married couple to have each coached lifters at the same world championships (Tashkent, Uzbekistan 2022, where he coached Laura Alexander (USA)[4], Nadia Yangui (CAN) and Line Gude (DEN), and Aimee coached Mattie Rogers (USA) and Julianna Riotto (USA)).[5]

He was the first non-Danish coach to be awarded coach of the year by the Danish Weightlifting Federation for his success with Line Gude, who at the 2022 European Championships became the first Danish woman in history to medal at a senior international competition.[6][7]

Books

As an author, Greg Everett is best known for his book Olympic Weightlifting: A Complete Guide for Athletes & Coaches, originally released in 2008, now in its third edition and translated into multiple languages.[1]

He gained a broader audience outside the weightlifting world with his 2021 Tough: Building True Mental, Physical & Emotional Toughness for Success & Fulfillment.[8][9][10][11]

He has written several more books, including Screaming at a Wall, released in 2001.

Film

In 2013, Everett released a feature-length documentary film on the sport of weightlifting in the US, American Weightlifting [12]. It was an extremely low-budget, single-person production that was made available through multiple streaming platforms and DVD after its single-theater premiere.

  7. "Dansk Vægtløftnings Forbund on Instagram: "(Danish⬇️) Danish Weightlifting Federation have decided somewhat untraditionally to award the title of Coach of the Year 2021 to a foreign coach. And on top of that a foreign coach not residing in Denmark. The coach is Greg Everett, who is the man behind the enormous success for Line Gude. Greg is known as @catalystathletics and coaches several of the best American weightlifters besides Line. He has an active career as a weightlifter behind him. Among his achievements a 5th place at the USAW National Championships. Greg also shares his knowledge with the weightlifting community through videos, books and social media. His efforts with Line Gude have borne fruit to such an extent that it won Line (and Denmark) a historic silver medal at the European Senior Championships 2022. Greg contribution to this phenomenal achievement is very substantial and has been done without any kind of financial support from the Danish Weightlifting Federation (who unfortunately doesn't have funding to do that). So, the least we could do was to award the title as Coach of the Year 2021 as a small token of our appreciation. So Mr. Everett, thank you for your contribution to Danish weightlifting **DVF har besluttet lidt utraditionelt at hædre en udenlandsk træner. #coachoftheyear2021 #weightlifting"". Instagram. Retrieved 2022-11-03.
