GoodBarber is an app builder, a no-code development platform, developed in France, which allows users without any programming skills to build native iOS/Android mobile apps and PWA (Progressive Web App) apps, as well as publish mobile apps through the Google Play Store and App Store (Apple).[1][2]

History

GoodBarber was born from the merger of two French software companies, DuoApps and WebzineMaker, which was initially designed as a webzine generator using a CMS in SaaS mode.[3]

GoodBarber continued its development in the early 2010s in the native mobile application market, first as a publisher of iOS applications, then Android applications as well.[4]

It was founded in 2001, in Ajaccio (Corsica), by Sébastien Simoni and 3 associates (J. Pietri, P. Chiappe and F. Bernardini). In its beginnings, the group offered generators of blogs in SaaS mode, websites and WebTV.[5] Joined by Dominique Siacci in 2010, the group began to offer a generator of native IOS and Android applications, as well as a PWA generator, for content management and eCommerce.[6][7] Today, GoodBarber is used in many industries, including research organizations.[8][9]

Chronology

WebzineMaker (WMaker) was created in 2001 by Sébastien Simoni, following a meeting with Federi Bernardini, a teacher who edited a magazine published in the form of a website, coded in PHP, for his Y5 Elementary students.[10] Sébastien Simoni had the intuition to industrialize this publication system in order to make it accessible to the greatest number, in an easy and friendly way, "without coding". They were joined for this project by Jérôme Pietri and Philippe Chiappe.

In 2002, WebzineMaker rented its first servers from OVH Hosting service and then, very quickly, bought its first bay from Redbus to host it independently.

In 2005 Webzine granted an operating license to Blue Pond Consulting in Japan and internationalized its webzine maker.[11]

Between 2005 and 2010 WebzineMaker hosted renowned French magazine Marianne, whose traffic will reach up to 6 million monthly visitors and will test the scalability and reliability of the CMS.[12]

In 2006, Dominique Siacci joined the WebzineMaker company.

On November 19, 2009, the WebzineMaker company acquired its new premises in Ajaccio and in 2010 launched its WebTV builder.

In 2009, the company DuoApps, a mobile applications editor, was created by Dominique Siacci.[13][14]

In 2011, DuoApps and WebzineMaker officially launched the native mobile application builder named GoodBarber, for the English and French markets, offering English and French language editions of the app builder.

Between 2013 and 2015, GoodBarber was developed to integrate Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese and Turkish in its editor interfaces.

In December 2018, the company WebzineMaker and DuoApps merged into a single entity under the name of Goodbarber.[15]

Developments, locations and key figures
