The Gold Coast is a city on the coast of the Australian state of Queensland. It is located roughly 66 kilometres (41 miles) south-southeast of the centre of Brisbane, the state capital, and immediately north of the border with New South Wales. The Gold Coast is the sixth-largest city in Australia, Australia's largest non-capital city, and Queensland's second-largest city, with an estimated population of 679,127 as of June 2018, including 79,001 people living in the adjacent Tweed Valley of New South Wales. It is also the second-largest city in Queensland.

The Gold Coast is a major tourist destination that is noted for its world-class surfing beaches, skyline that is dominated by high-rise buildings, amusement parks, nightlife, and rainforest hinterland. The Gold Coast enjoys a sunny, subtropical environment and is known for its year-round warm weather. Television programmes and a significant film business are both located in the city, making it an important participant in the nation's entertainment sector.

Roughly half of the Gold Coast is covered by a variety of forest types. This includes tiny pockets of old rainforest that are almost completely untouched, islands that are covered with mangroves, coastal heathlands, and cropland that include parts of eucalyptus woodland that have not been removed yet. Tiny vestiges of the plantation pine woods that were created in the 1950s and 1960s when the Commonwealth government pushed commercial forest planting for the sake of tax minimization still exist today. These forests were planted with pine trees.

The city of Gold Coast may be found in the southeastern part of the state of Queensland, to the south of Brisbane, which is the capital of the state. The Gold Coast and Logan City, which is a local government entity located to the south of the City of Brisbane, are separated by the Albert River.

Suburbs, localities, towns, and rural regions are all included in the boundaries of the City of Gold Coast.

The designation of Southport as a Priority Development Area (PDA), together with increased investment into the Central Business District, is driving revolutionary change and offering new possibilities for business and investment.
