GoHenry is a United States and United Kingdom based financial technology company, that offers a debit card and financial learning app for kids aged 6 to 18.

History

GoHenry was co-founded by Louise Hill and Dean Brauer, in 2012 in London, United Kingdom.[2][3]

The company is named after GoHenry 's first customer, an 11-year-old boy named Henry. GoHenry was founded to help children aged 6 — 18 learn to manage their own money and build early financial habits. It also allows parents to control their children’s spending using the mobile app.[4][5]

In 2016, the company broke an equity crowdfunding world record, by raising $5.6 million on Crowdcube.[6][7]

In Spring 2018, GoHenry was launched in Beta in the USA in partnership with Mastercard.[8]

In 2018, GoHenry raised $8.1 million, including $3 million from their own customers.[9]

In 2020, the company raised $40 million in funding led by Edison Partners and with the participation of Revai (formerly Gaia Capital Partners), Citi Ventures, and Muse Capital.[10][11]

The company has 1.5 million members (parents and children).[12][13]

GoHenry launched the giving feature in partnership with the charity organization Boys & Girls Clubs of America in the US and National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children in the UK.[14]

GoHenry’s card is issued by Community Federal Saving Bank in the US and IDT Financial Services Limited in the UK.[15]

The company has a partnership with Visa Inc. in the UK and Mastercard in the USA.[16]
