Godfrey James Thomson, better known as Godfrey[1] (stylized in all caps), is an American Musician, recording artist, record producer, singer and songwriter.

In March of 2020, Thomson made his first bid as a solo artist with the Single (music) "Sugar Puss".[2] Described as a vigorous sound that fuses rock stylings with Trap music and dance elements.[3]

Early Life

Godfrey Thomson, the son of American parents moved to Brazil[4][5] at the age of 1 years old. He began performing and playing guitar in public as a young child. At age 9, Thomson began recording vocals and voice acting in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

He moved to Los Angeles, CA with his family at age 15. Later moving to Tokyo, Japan with a friend to pursue a career in Audio engineer/video engineering and Record producer.

Career

Beginnings

Returning to the United States in his early 20's, Thomson worked as a record producer and audio engineer. In the early 2000's he relocated to Mexico City where he built an audio recording studio and continued his record producing career.

While in Mexico he also formed a popular cover band, performing at Hard Rock Cafe, private parties and events. In 2008 Thomson moved back to the United States and found success composing music for television and film.

Finding a niche creating hard rock and Alternative rock Soundtrack for NBC Sports Channel, Outdoor Channel and shows such as Cars TV and The American Athlete.[6]

2010-2018: Saints Of Valory

Thomson's musical career continued as co-founder of the alt-rock band Saints Of Valory who were signed to Atlantic Records in 2012.[7] They subsequently signed a Publishing contract deal with Universal Music Publishing Group in 2014.[8]

Notable performances include supporting The Rolling Stones,[9][10][11][12] OneRepublic at Red Rocks Amphitheatre,[13][14] Imagine Dragons,[15] Fitz and The Tantrums,[16] Awolnation,[17][18] Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival,[19] Austin City Limits Music Festival,[20] Rock in Rio Brazil[21] and Rock in Rio USA.[22][23]

2020: Debut singles

On March 27th 2020, Godfrey self-released his first single as a solo artist called, "Sugar Puss (feat. Nitty Scott) [Raucous Mix]".[2] The song was featured on many music blogs and 87 independent Spotify playlists.[3]

Later releasing a second single, "Let Me." along with the instrumental version released on May 15th 2020.[24]

Thomson wrote his 3rd single following the death of George Floyd and subsequent protesting. "Hard Look (Mirror And Me)" was released on Juneteenth 2020.[25]

Artistry

Thomson is a multi-instrumentalist and has stated that he frequently uses guitar and piano when writing songs. He started playing Drum kit at age 18 while in Japan and would later become the drummer of several bands and musical projects in Mexico and the US.

He has also stated that bass guitar was the first electric instrument he learned to play.
