Garrett Hilbert (born May 13, 1987) is an American YouTuber,[1] entertainer, and internet personality, best known as one of the five co-founders of the sports and entertainment group Dude Perfect.[2] The group, formed in 2009, is recognized globally for its trick shots, comedy sketches, and sports-related content, and has become one of the most subscribed sports channels on YouTube. Hilbert is often referred to as “The Purple Hoser” within the group’s fan community.[3]

Early life and education

Garrett Hilbert was born in Plano, Texas, United States. He attended Texas A&M University, where he met fellow students Cory Cotton, Coby Cotton, Tyler Toney, and Cody Jones. Their shared interest in sports and friendly competition led to the founding of Dude Perfect. Hilbert later earned a degree in architecture, but his career path shifted as Dude Perfect’s popularity grew on digital platforms.[4]

Career with Dude Perfect

In 2009, Hilbert and his friends uploaded their first trick shot video on YouTube, filmed in their backyard, which quickly went viral. The overwhelming response prompted the group to produce more content, blending basketball trick shots, comedy skits, and sports entertainment. Over time, Dude Perfect expanded its content range to include “Stereotypes” series, “Overtime” episodes, and collaborations with professional athletes.[5]

As a co-founder, Hilbert has been an integral part of the brand’s success. Dude Perfect’s channel has amassed tens of millions of subscribers and billions of views, making it one of the most prominent YouTube channels globally. The group’s collaborations have included athletes and celebrities such as Stephen Curry, Serena Williams, Aaron Rodgers, and Odell Beckham Jr.[6]

Hilbert is recognized for his consistent on-screen presence, team spirit, and comedic personality, often donning purple attire that led to his nickname “The Purple Hoser.”[7]

Other ventures

Beyond YouTube, Dude Perfect has expanded into live tours, merchandise, mobile gaming apps, and a television series. The group’s TV show, The Dude Perfect Show, aired on CMT and later Nickelodeon, where Hilbert and his teammates showcased their creativity in a more structured entertainment format.[8]

Hilbert has also participated in charitable activities with Dude Perfect, supporting causes related to children’s health, education, and community development.

Personal life

Garrett Hilbert is married and has three children. Despite the global fame of Dude Perfect, Hilbert is known for maintaining a low personal profile compared to some of his co-founders. He often emphasizes teamwork and the value of family in interviews and appearances.

Legacy and influence

As part of Dude Perfect, Hilbert has contributed to redefining sports-based digital entertainment. The group’s innovative use of trick shots, humor, and positive content has inspired a generation of young creators and sports fans. Dude Perfect has been credited with popularizing large-scale sports entertainment content on YouTube and building a brand that bridges digital media and mainstream sports culture. Hilbert’s role as a co-founder and entertainer within the group has cemented him as a notable American YouTuber, entertainer, and internet personality, with a lasting influence on digital content creation.
