GP Transco is an American trucking company that provides transportation and Logistics service provider. It is headquartered in Joliet, Illinois.[1] The company has been recognized for its treatment of drivers, driver pays and benefits, and truck equipment and design.[2][3][4]

Overview

GP Transco was founded on June 30, 2006, by Gedas Poviliunas, in Illinois, United States.[5] It was headquartered in Darien, Connecticut before moving to its new headquarter in Joliet, Illinois, in 2020.[1][2][6] An office was opened in Vilnius, Lithuania.[7][8] The company provides transportation and logistics services in the United States and Canada and has over 500 tractors and 700 trailers.[9][10]

GP Transco has gained recognition for its working environment, management systems, and the compensation it offers to its employees. The company purchases trucks equipped with standard cab options, including feature seats, Truck sleeper, steering wheels, and pedals that can be adjusted to reduce issues while driving.[4] In 2019, GP Transco launched a program to reward its top 50% drivers with a salary bonus each month based on fuel efficiency.[11] It also announced a base pay increase for company drivers in April 2021.[3] The company’s Wage ratio|pay rate includes base pay, profit-sharing, and accessorial pay for layovers and extra stops.[12][13]

Based on driver’s salary, benefits, and quality of employment, TruckDriverSalary listed GP Transco on the list of highest paying trucking companies in the U.S. and listed the company on position three of its 2019 list of the Top 10 Best Trucking Companies to Work for.[14]

In 2020, GP Transco partnered with Samsara (company) Telematics Solutions and invested in an Internet of things platform that includes Dashcam, AI to monitor and streamline its operations, and build in its own OpenRoad TMS.[2][15] The platform works on integration to track GPS coordinates, drivers’ hours of service, driver location, estimated time of arrival for customers, idle monitoring, and miles per gallon, alert drivers of any inappropriate actions such as excessive speed, distracted driving or lack of seatbelt use in real-time.[9][16][17] The company was also named as the top fleet to drive for by Samsara in its annual fleet awards.[11][18]

For its driver compensation and work environment, GP Transco has been listed three times on Crain’s Fast 50.[19][17] The company was also on the listing of privately held companies for growth on Inc. (magazine)|Inc. 5000, and was named the best trucking company to work for in 2021 by Smart-Trucking.[20][21]
