Fred Bloem, M.D. is a licensed physician who has practiced medicine since 1994. His work focuses on holistic, functional, and integrative medicine, combining conventional medical training with individualized approaches intended to identify and address factors that contribute to illness.[1]
His clinical interests include primary care, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, nutritional and metabolic support, regenerative therapies, intravenous therapies, supportive care for patients with cancer, and the management of complex chronic illnesses.[2]
Early life and education
Bloem attended secondary school at the Alexander Hegius Scholengemeenschap and later studied at Leiden University in the Netherlands. He received his M.D. from Leiden University after attending its medical school from 1982 to 1989. During his university years, he was associated with the Minerva Studenten Genootschap.
Following medical school, Bloem pursued postgraduate medical training in the United States.
Medical training
Bloem completed an internship in internal medicine at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore from July 1990 to June 1991. He subsequently undertook residency training in anesthesiology at George Washington University from July 1991 to June 1992.
From July 1992 through July 1994, he completed two years of family-practice residency at Prince George's Hospital Center. He subsequently began practicing primary care medicine and established his own medical practice in 2000.

Holistic and integrative medicine
Bloem has practiced as a holistic physician since around 2000. His practice provides holistic, functional, and integrative medical services for children and adults, emphasizing patient education, collaboration, and individualized care.[3]
His approach is intended to look beyond isolated symptoms and consider medical, metabolic, nutritional, environmental, and lifestyle factors that may contribute to illness. Patients are encouraged to participate actively in decisions about their health.[4]
