Frankie Hambo López is a journalist, event organizer, and video game community leader in Puerto Rico.[1] He is known for his work promoting video games as educational and cultural tools, as well as organizing prominent events on the island.[2]
Career
Media and Communication
Between 2008 and 2015, he collaborated on the radio show El Circo de la Mega, where he presented segments about video games and technology.[3]
Puerto Rico Gamers Association
In 2007, he founded the Puerto Rico Gamers Association (PRAG), an organization aimed at uniting local gamers through tournaments, networking events, and community activities.[4]
Gaming Xplosion Fest
In 2008, he organized the Gaming Xplosion Fest.[5] This event included competitions, educational workshops, and tech exhibits.[6][7]
Educational Initiatives
López collaborated with Microsoft and the Puerto Rico Economic Development Bank on programs like Copa Kodu[8] and App Idol.[9]
Recognitions
In 2020, he was included in the Future Class list of The Game Awards, which recognizes innovators in the video game industry.[10].
Currently, he leads Yo Soy Un Gamer and continues to develop initiatives to strengthen the video game community in Puerto Rico.
