Fayrouz Chamoun, born 1943 in Zahle, Lebanon, is a Lebanese artisan, painter, writer, illustrator, collector, draughtsman and much more. His family is originally from Saraain, but he has lived in Zahle most of his life.[1]

His icons are displayed in more than 50 churches across Lebanon. He has also participated in the Symposium of Ahden, Jounieh, Alleh, Nabateyeh, Zahle, West Bekaa, & Tripoli, which accrue to about 50 exhibitions in total.

In August 2022, Fayrouz met with his Excellency Representative Camille Dory Shamoun & Dory Shamoun, where the artist Fayrouz Shamoun presented to his excellency the lineage tree of the Shamoun family and the book of the poet Tawfiq Shamoun, and received from his excellency a collection of texts and literature written by President Camille Nimr Shamoun.[2]

Cultural Activities & Experience

  • From 1965, he became Instructor of Arts in several Public & Private Schools
  • From 1981, he became the Chief Instructor of Arts in the "Educational School for Instructors Zahle"
  • From 1997, he was a member of the "Educational Center for Research & Development"
  • Between 1998 & 2006, he founded the "Fayrouz Chamoun Center for Art & Culture" [3]
  • From 1999, he was a founding member & secretary general of educational issues in the "Oasis of Literature - Baalbek"
  • From 2001, he became a member in the "Committee of Lebanese Artists for Drawing and Sculpture"
  • From 2007, he was elected President of the Cultural Council of Zahle
