Fabrizio Ottoboni (born 1953 in Vercelli, Italy) is an Italian biologist who specialised in the research and cultivation of allergenic Mites. He has served as the editorial manager of Notiziario Allergologico[1], a journal focused on allergology.

Ottoboni began his career with a diploma from a technical chemistry school before joining Lofarma, a pharmaceutical company in Milan, where he worked until 2017. During his tenure at Lofarma, he pursued and earned a degree in biology from the University of Milan.[2]

His research focused on the cultivation of allergenic mites to create diagnostic tests for identifying allergens and developing immunotherapy treatments for allergic conditions.[3] He helped to develop a new test specifically designed to detect mite antigens in house-dust.[4] One of Ottoboni’s key achievements was the development of a novel test specifically designed to detect Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus (Dp) antigens in household dust.[5] This innovation was instrumental in understanding acarid infestations in domestic environments,[6] as well as in identifying the role of house-dust mite allergens in triggering allergic symptoms in atopic patients.[7] His work was instrumental in identifying Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus as a primary allergen and elucidating its role in allergic respiratory diseases. These findings have been pivotal in advancing diagnostic and therapeutic approaches in allergology.[8]
