Fabrizio Grossi is a self taught bass player. As a teenager in Italy, he was active in the local music scene of his native Milan. In 1990 he relocated to New York, and later to Los Angeles, where he began working for different artists, both as a bass player and record producer, most notably Grammy Award winning guitarist Steve Vai[1], and German punk singer Nina Hagen[2].

Career and record production

From 1997 on, Fabrizio Grossi focused on his production career, working on albums for labels like EarMusic/Edel[3][4], Avalon Records[5] and Frontiers Records, featuring artists such as Joseph Williams (musician)[6] and Steve Lukather[7] of Toto (band), Mickey Thomas (singer)[7], Robin Beck[8], Indigo Dying[9], From The Inside[10], House of Lords (band)[11], Tommy Funderburk[12], Glenn Hughes, Kelly Hansen’s Perfect World[13].

In 2005 together with singer Tony Harnell, drummer John Macaluso and guitarist Magnus Karlsson (musician) he formed the hard rock ensemble Starbreaker (band). The band's self-titled debut album was released by Frontiers Records in 2005[14].

Grossi also produced pop and rock Italian artists such as Death SS[15], Laura Smiraglia[16], No More Dolls and was co-executive producer for two releases for Grammy winner Italian singer Laura Pausini[17] on East West Records.

In 2012 he joined The Allman Brothers Band & Gov't Mule's singer and guitarist Warren Haynes for a series of posthumous Tommy Bolin’s releases[18], featuring blues and fusion artists like, Derek Trucks, John Scofield, Steve Lukather, Oz Noy, Nels Cline, Peter Frampton, Myles Kennedy & Sonny Landreth. Also in 2012 by enlisting Glenn Hughes, Steve Vai, Chad Smith and Lachy Doley[19], he produced different renditions of Deep Purple’s music originally featured in the band’s 1972 album Machine Head (album), for the 40th anniversary celebration of the release.

He also produced and collaborated with artists such as Billy Gibbons, Leslie West, Zakk Wylde, Alice Cooper[20], Ice-T & Body Count (band)[21], Pat Travers & Carmine Appice[22], George Clinton (funk musician)[23], Paul Stanley, Joe Bonamassa, Slash (musician), Eric Gales featuring Gary Clark Jr. and Aaron Keylock[24].

Movies & TV

In 2017 Grossi was co-executive producer and composer for the award-winning documentary Sidemen: Long Road to Glory[25][26] (Abramorama Distribution), in which the story of three blues pioneer musicians is narrated by Marc Maron, and with testimonials by Joe Perry, Bonnie Raitt, Greg Allman and Joe Bonamassa, pays tribute to their idols[27][28].

Performances and touring

In 2010, Grossi toured Europe together with Grammy award winner guitarist Steve Lukather[29], drummer Kenny Aronoff & keyboardist Steve Weingart, under the moniker Goodfellas[30].

In 2016, with drummer Kenny Aronoff & singer/guitarist Lance Lopez, he founded the blues rock & jam band Supersonic Blues Machine. The band released two studio albums to date “West of Flushing, South of Frisco”[31] and “Californisoul”[32] on Provogue Records. Both records made the Billboard Top 10 Blues charts[33], and featured the guest appearances of Billy F Gibbons, Eric Gales, Warren Haynes, Robben Ford, Steve Lukather, Walter Trout & Chris Duarte . The band headlined a variety of Music Festivals, most notably The Notodden Blues Festival (Norway), Ramblin’ Man Fair (UK), Mahindra Blues Festival[34] (India), Holland International Blues Festival (Holland ), the :es:Festival_Noches_del_Botánico|Festival Noches del Botanico and the Cazorla Blues Festival (Spain). In 2018 UK singer/guitarist Kris Barras, also signed to Provogue Records, joined the band replacing front man Lance Lopez. The band first release with Barras was the 2019 live album “Road Chronicles LIVE”[35].

In 2019 Grossi started performing around Los Angeles with the live band Drop The Needle, which featured drummer Stephen Perkins and music director/keyboardist Alex Alessandroni Jr., which provided the bedding for his solo band Soul Garage Experience.

In September 2021, the band released its debut album Counterfeited Soulstice Vol 1[36] on Soul Garage Records/Unit Media.
