Merlin Bastian Glander(born November 9, 2004), professionally known as fpvogel (stylized as FPVogel or fpvogel.de[1] is a professional german drone racing pilot. He is most notably known for his participation in the Drone Championship (DCS).[2] He started Drone Racing in 2017[3] He is currently participating at races for the Air Monkeys Racing Team and the FPV Lions Diepholz.[4]

Career

2017: First Participation at a race:[5]

With just 12 years of age Merlin participated in his first race accompanied by his father. It was organized by Markus Messerschmidt and took place in Ristedt, Germany and pilots from all over Germany came to take part. The winner of the race was Malte Meibohm(dekayzfpv)

2018: First Drone Racing Cup:[6]

In 2018 he participated at the Intercopter Racing Cup in Dortmund, Germany in the Westfalenhalle 1. Due to technical problems he didn't get to the finals.

2019: Sponsorships

In 2019 he started gaining media attraction due to his partaking in multiple races all across Germany.[7][8][9]Due to the rising attention he was approached by the Air Monkeys Racing Team and joined them by the end of 2019. It was officially announced in February 2020 that FPVogel would fly for them in the foreseeable future.[10] Together with the Team he was approached by different brands, which resulted in multiple sponsorships.

2020: Flying for the Air Monkeys Racing Team

FPVogel started the year off at the DCS Erfurt.[11]After which most events were cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The next race he took part in after that was the DCS Diepholz Race in Diepholz.[12]
