Eslam Hozayen (born 7 February 1990) is an Egyptian Multi-Award-Winning independent filmmaker, screenwriter, and director. He is best known for creating stimulating short films and visual content that focus on the obscure power of the human brain and its cynical side.[1]
Hozayen’s highly acclaimed works include “The devil within us”, “Boy”, “Born Monsters” and “My skin is black.” He is the recipient of the Critics’ Choice Award at Uruvatti festival and Tagore International Award to name a few. . Hozayen has been featured in multiple media outlets for his contribution to the entertainment industry such as About Insider,[2] Daily Scanner,[3] Zee5,[4] Open The News, London Daily Post,[5] and others.[6]
Early life and education
Hozayen was born 7 February 1990 and raised in Cairo, Egypt, in a lower-class family. When Hozayen was 17 years old, he migrated to the United States in order to pursue his passion for filmmaking. He attended college, and graduated with a film degree from Saint Cloud State University.
Career
Hozayen has developed four short films and five short visuals to date. The devil within us is his most successful project, which has received five awards at film festivals across America, Europe, and India. He is currently working on his next project: Born Monsters, which will premiere at two festivals by the end of 2021 and will then be available on online media platforms. His film "My Skin is black" is also one of his most successful works that premiered at the Rome Independent Prisma Awards Festival and the Dmoff-Festival, as well as received a critics' choice prize at the Uruvatti Film Festival.[7]
Hozayen’s message and goal through his work are to reveal the obscure side of the brain in its natural state and bring forth mental fears through writing and directing.[8] He ultimately aims to give the audience a more detailed look at how the inner workings of the brain can wreak havoc on one’s life with its deep-rooted tricks.[9]
Hozayen's short film "In a parallel world" debuted at the London city film festival in September 2021.
