Elizabeth Ryu (born 16 august 1982) is an Australian entrepreneur. She is the CEO of Happytel Retail Group, a family-owned business and Australia's leading retailer of smartphone repairs and smartphone accessories. She also serves as the Director of Active Golf, along with other businesses in health, real estate, and online businesses. She is also the co-founder of the DASTA - Digital and Sustainable Technology Association.[1]
Early life and education
Ryu was born in Seoul, South Korea, and immigrated to Sydney, Australia with her parents and her brother when she was five years old.
Ryu studied at Presbyterian Ladies College, Sydney. At University of New South Wales (UNSW) she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor’s degree in Law. She then completed a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice at The College of Law, and later admitted as a Lawyer. Ryu went abroad to complete her Executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) at London School of Economics, NYU Stern and HEC Paris.
Career
Ryu is the CEO of Happytel Retail Group, which was established in 1994. Ryu became the CEO in 2005, and since then the company has grown to over 350 employees and 60 stores to become the largest retailer of smart device accessories and smart device repairs in every capital city and major shopping center in Australia and New Zealand.
Ryu also serves as the Director of Active Golf, an innovative and technological golf practice simulation business across Australia.
Ryu is also the co-founder of DASTA - Digital and Sustainable Technology Association.
Personal life
Ryu is fluent in English and Korean. She is passionate about learning, art, empowering others and is also a keen golfer. She is a big advocate of Dementia.
