Eliza Orlins (born December 25, 1982) is an American lawyer, who has served as an attorney at the The Legal Aid Society for the past decade.[1] She has also appeared on reality-TV shows Survivor (American TV series) and The Amazing Race. On March 5, 2020, Orlins announced that she would run for New York County District Attorney, also known as the Manhattan District Attorney.

Early life and education

Orlins was born in New York City, New York on born December 25, 1982. After spending parts of her childhood in China, Hong Kong, and New York, her family moved to Washington, D.C.[2] Orlins graduated from Syracuse University, earning a bachelor’s degree in international relations and political science in 2005, and a Juris Doctor from Fordham University School of Law in 2008.

Reality TV Experiences

Orlins competed in two seasons of Survivor: Vanuatu, Season 9: Vanuatu and Survivor: Micronesia.[3][4]

Orlins also competed in The Amazing Race 31.[5]

Career

Orlins has been an attorney at the nonprofit The Legal Aid Society since 2009. Orlins has litigated in both New York State Supreme Court and New York State Criminal Court while employed with the Legal Aid Society and has represented more than 3000 persons otherwise unable to afford a lawyer.[1][6] Orlins has also trained new lawyers to navigate the legal system in this role.

In March 2020, Orlins announced that she would run for New York County District Attorney.[7]
