Egyptian Americans are people who were born in the United States yet have Egyptian heritage. According to the 2016 United States Census, the number of individuals of Egyptian ancestry was projected to be 256,000. Egyptian Americans may also include Egyptians who were born in the United States but who are not citizens of Egypt. In 2016, the United States Census Bureau projected that there were 181,677 Egyptians born abroad living in the United States. In 2016, they accounted for about 0.4 percent of the overall foreign-born population in the United States, with 42,194,354 first-generation immigrants.
