Dr. Harvey Castro is an American physician, healthcare consultant, serial entrepreneur, angel investor, executive coach, and author. He serves as the medical advisor at SpringTide Ventures. He has previously served multiple companies and healthcare associations, working across various designations, ranging from a physician, entrepreneur, founder, and CEO.[1]

Dr. Castro has also authored a book titled "Success Reinvention." He also contributes to various medical publications and serves as a medical correspondent for NBC, Telemundo, and Univision. He has been featured in several leading media publications and magazines, including Good Morning Texas, CBS, Fox, ABC, and others.[2]

Early life and education

Dr. Castro was born and raised by a teenage mother who migrated to the United States and struggled to provide for her family. Dr. Castro's childhood was filled with challenges and obstacles that drove him through hard work and determination to succeed.

In 1996, Dr. Castro enrolled in Baylor College of Medicine to pursue his pre-medical studies. During 1994-1998, Dr. Castro studied at Texas A&M University to pursue his graduation in Political Science and Biomedical Science. In 1998, he enrolled in the University of Texas Medical Branch to obtain his doctorate in medicine. In 2019, Dr. Castro joined the University of Tennessee to pursue a physician executive MBA.

Dr. Castro further continued his medical education, enhancing his knowledge, skills, and professional performance, and has completed several certifications and courses in ACLS, PALS, and advanced trauma life support.

Career

Dr. Castro began his medical career in 1991, with US Army, as an E4 specialist and dental assistant, providing essential medical assistance and care during dental procedures. From 2003 to 2006, he served as a resident doctor at St. Luke's University Health Centre.[3]

From 2006 to 2016, Dr. Castro has professionally affiliated with various hospitals as an attending and emergency room physician, including Medical City Las Colinas, HCA North Texas, and Parkland Hospital.[4]

Dr. Castro has held various executive positions at hospitals throughout his career, including medical director at The Colony ER Hospital and Elite Care 24-Hour Emergency Centre.[5]

In 1998, Dr. Castro founded the Deep Pocket Series, which led the development of cutting-edge medical mobile and web applications that meet the needs of both patients and healthcare providers. He is known to have created over 30 medical apps for Apple, Android, and web platforms.

In May 2017, Dr. Castro established Trusted Medical and served as the company's CEO, president, and co-founder until October 2021. He built the organization from the beginning and grew it to 8 emergency rooms and 350 medical staff. The company aimed to provide consultation and management services to healthcare organizations. The company undertook to oversee its partner organizations' entire operations and functions. Developing healthcare policies and managing their implementation, promoting resource optimization and patient care, and producing electronic healthcare records and technological upgrades are some of the services Trusted Medical provides. At the same time, Dr. Castro also co-founded Prime Medical Staffing to deliver executive guidance, mentoring, and management services to healthcare providers.[6]

In September 2019, Dr. Castro established Trusted Medical Billing, providing end-to-end medical billing solutions to healthcare providers headquartered in Dallas, Texas.[7]

From April 2020 to August 2021, Dr. Castro served as a limited partner at Global Health Impact Fund. He identified and evaluated investment opportunities, provided advice and guidance to the investment team, and oversaw their compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and evidence-based guidelines.[8]

Dr. Castro currently serves as the medical advisor to SpringTide Ventures. At SpringTide Ventures, he is responsible for identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities in the healthcare sector by conducting market research and trend analysis. His other current affiliations include Body Max Rx Pllc, a weight management clinic (2022), TPG Texas Pllc (2022), and Noble Health Telemedicine (2021).

Dr. Castro is the author of the book "Success Reinvention," released in 2020, through which he shares his journey to success that serves as a guide and inspiration to others to overcome obstacles and lead the path to success. Dr. Castro has also authored several medical publications and serves as a medical correspondent for NBC, Telemundo, and Univision. He has also created several online courses and products, including Success Reinvention, Importance of your digital image, and Success Reinvention for New Graduates & Professionals e-course.[9]

Dr. Castro is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the American College of Emergency Physicians and is a frequent speaker to healthcare organizations and practice groups aimed at inspiring loyalty, driving compassionate patient care, and building professional growth.[10]

Awards and recognition

Dr. Castro has been voted the "Best Doctor" by D Magazine for nine consecutive years, from 2014-2022.
