Dr. Emilio Justo is an American ophthalmologist and cosmetic surgeon. He is the founder and medical director of the Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center, specializing in ophthalmology and cosmetic surgery services. He is also a clinical assistant professor at Midwestern University Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, and A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine.

Early life and education

Dr. Emilio Justo was born in Cuba. In 1965, his family immigrated to the United States as refugees. He graduated from Andrean High School in Merrillville, Indiana in 1979 as Valedictorian. He completed his undergraduate and medical school studies at the University of Michigan in 1985. Dr. Justo completed his internship at St. Vincent Hospital & Health Care Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, and his ophthalmic and laser surgery residency at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. in 1989.

Career

Dr. Emilio Justo started his medical practice in 1989 in Arizona, where he established the Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center, where he is the Founder and Medical Director. He specializes in laser-assisted refractive cataract surgery and CO2 laser blepharoplasty. The institute offers various ophthalmology services, including advanced cataract surgery, macular degeneration management, glaucoma treatment, and routine eye exams for eyeglasses and contact lenses. It also has optical shops in each of its three locations, Just For Eyes Optical Boutique, which provides fashionable eyewear.

Additionally, the center offers various cosmetic services, such as laser eyelid surgery, endoscopic brow lifts, and non-surgical procedures like Botox/Dysport/Xeomin injections, dermal tissue fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion and laser hair removal. Dr. Justo is the leading cosmetic and ophthalmic surgeon in the Phoenix area, and he operates facilities in Sun City West, Sun City and Wickenburg.

Dr. Justo has performed over 50,000 laser-assisted refractive cataract surgeries and CO2 laser blepharoplasties throughout his 35+ year career. He is widely recognized for his mastery of state-of-the-art refractive cataract surgery and CO2-Laser Blepharoplasty, making him a sought-after innovator and master teacher of CO2-Laser Blepharoplasty.

Dr. Justo is licensed to practice medicine in Arizona and Florida, and is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, and a fellow of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is an active member of several professional associations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery, the Arizona Ophthalmological Society, the Phoenix Ophthalmological Society and the Arizona Latin-American Association.

Dr. Justo is a clinical assistant professor at Midwestern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Glendale, Arizona, the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, and A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine in Mesa, Arizona.

Dr. Justo has been a Principal Investigator for various FDA studies through Physicians Research Group and Advancing Research International.

Dr. Justo is a TEDx speaker. He presented his first talk, "Delayed Gratification: Your Superpower to Success," at TEDxCherryCreekHS on August 12, 2023. Additionally, he delivered a second talk titled "Unleashing the Drive Within: The OBSESSION Advantage to Unprecedented Success" at the TEDxWesternU event in London, Ontario, Canada, on February 2, 2024. His first TEDx talk on delayed gratification was the #3 global TEDx YouTube video in 2023.

Philanthropy

Dr. Justo is committed to philanthropy. He organizes mission trips to Mexico and Cuba, providing modern medical and surgical eye care to underprivileged communities. He is also a Team Manager for Boys Team Charity Sonoran League in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Justo is also past-President of the Surprise Grand Bell Rotary Club and is a Board Member of the Board of Directors for Tarkio College in Tarkio, Missouri.

Personal life

Dr. Justo is married to his wife, Dr. Allison A. Justo, for over twenty years, and together they have three children: Emilio M. Justo, Jr., Joseph Justo, and Annaliese Justo.
