Devi Chandana[1][2] is an Indian film actress best known for her work in Malayalam. She is a television actress and an accomplished dancer. She has won many awards[3] and accolades for her on screen and stage performances. She is one of the most familiar faces in Malayalam television scenario and has proved her mettle in multiple stage shows across the globe. She distinguished herself at the youth festival level itself and her versatility is incredible.

She burst into the field of arts by becoming the coveted Kerala School Kalolsavam (best all round performer) in the prestigious Kerala youth festival in the 1997-98 season. She later on became a Kalathilakom at the college level also by annexing the crown in the 2003 Kerala University Youth festival.

Early Life & Education

Devi Chandana[4] was born in Thiruvananathapuram on 24th of April 1982. Her parents are B. Vasudevan Pillai, a school teacher and Jalaja Vasudevan a bank officer. She has a brother named Charu Agaru who is a Koodiyattom exponent.

She had her kinder garten to 9th standard schooling at SDV English Medium HSS, Alappuzha and 10th Class at SDV Girls HS, Alappuzha. She did her graduation and post graduation from St Joseph's College for Women, Alappuzha. Post marriage, she completed her BA Bharata Natyam at St Theresa's College Cochin, and MA Bharata Natyam from RLV Tripunithura.

Career

Devi Chandana[5] is an actress popular from her role in Bharya Veettil Paramasukham and she appeared in lots of television serials also. She debuted with Tamil Film as Kannukkul Nilavu. She holds two Master's degree in English literature and Bharatanatyam from University of Kerala and Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. In fact she is a first rank holder for Bharatanatyam post graduation. She has acted in more than 50 Malayalam cinema and two Tamil films and numerous television serials and stage shows. She has performed with elan in a whole lot of shows in countries like USA, European nations, UAE, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, etc.

She has proven her felicity in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, Kuchipudi, Ottan Thullal, Kathakali etc.

She had her dance training under RLV Anilkumar and RLV Pradip Kumar, Manu Master,. Kerala Kalamandalam and Kalamandalam Kavitha Krishnakumar were her Mohiniyattam Gurus. She learnt Ottan Thullal under Kalamandalam Geethanandhan and Kathakali under Kerala Kalamandalam Narayanan Kutty and Kerala Kalamandalam. She learnt Chakyar koothu under Margi Madhu.

She is married to renowned singer and stage performer Kishore Varma[6][7]. She also was a faculty of Bharathanatyam at St. Theresa's College, Ernakulam[8]. Currently she is the director of Nrupalaya School of performing arts and Swaralaya Institution for Dance & Music, Ambalappuzha.
