Dayhiyah Luwiz (Arabic: ديهية لويز) is an Algerian writer, born in 1985 and she was born in Siliat Béjaïa, one of the most important Amazigh urban in Algeria,[1] her real name is Luwiz Ouzlak.[2]

Biography

The beginning of Dayhiyah Luwiz intention is in creativity when she was 13 years, where she began poetry versification before she turned her attention to the novel at the age of 16.[2] [3] She was a poet and then moved on to writing fiction with multiple readings and experiments. Her first novel "A body that resides in me" (original title: Jasad yascononi) is a strong indication of the advent of a novelist project with a different soul from the previous Algerian women's projects in terms of language and the adopted obsessions. Luwiz's combining of Arabic and Amazigh in writing is considered an indication of the emergence of a new Algerian literary generation.

Moreover, overcoming the linguistic conflict sanctified by politics, the interests of the regime, and ideological sects is far from the logic of culture and coexistence.[1] She also participated in 2013 with a collection of short stories in the Berber languages|Amazigh language with a number of Algerian writers.[3]

Dayhiyah participated in many literary events in Algeria and abroad, especially in the United Arab Emirates.[4]

  • " I will throw myself in front of you "(Original title: Sa akdif nafsee amamak) in 2013.[3][5]Her second novel, the first Algerian novel in Arabic, tells about the Amazighian Spring which was called the Black Spring through an impossible love story and a touching life story for a girl who kept stubborn her destiny, which kept surprising her every time.[2][6]
  • In 2013, she participated in a collection of short stories in the Amazigh language with a number of Algerian, Moroccan and Libyan writers.[2][7]
  • " Between sky and earth " (Original title:Bain Alsama w alard )written in the Amazigh language.[8]

Awards

She won the Mohamed Dib Prize for Amazigh novel (Between sky and Earth) (Original title:Bain Alsama w Alard) in 2016.[8]

Death

Dayhiyah Luwiz died at the age of twenty-three,[8] on Friday in Béjaïa|Bgayet.[3] Posted about her death by the Ministry of Culture (Algeria)|Algerian Ministry of Culture on Facebook.[7] A statement by the Ministry of Culture stated that "With her loss, the literary scene loses one of Algeria's young sons and young writers who were able to impose themselves with ease in the field of creativity and writing.

The deceased was known for her seriousness, love of writing and creativity when she was still a child not exceeding thirteen".[4]
