Davy Nathan (born June 25, 1980) is a music director, record producer, songwriter and pianist based in Los Angeles.

He was the music director of the Television in the American reality television The X Factor US and performed as the music director for Toni Braxton during her Las Vegas show at the Flamingo hotel, as well as several tours with New Kids on the Block.

Davy has produced and written for artists such as Nick Jonas, Janelle Monáe, Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins, Toni Braxton, Ricky Martin, Jessie J, Jennifer Hudson, K. Michelle, Tamar Braxton, Babyface, Queen Latifah, Brandy, Eric Benét and more.

Early life

Nathan was born on June 25, 1980 in Tel Aviv, Israel to Nili and Shabi Nathan. His interest in music developed at a young age, playing various instruments such as piano, guitar and accordion. At age six, Nathan begun taking lessons and soon after started performing all over Israel, in concert halls, on the radio and on television.

At 17-years-old Nathan moved to the United States to study at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he majored in Music Synthesis. After a couple of years he left to pursue a full time career as a keyboard player and musical director.

Performing career

Nathan's professional career started at Wally's Cafe in Boston where he played keyboards two nights a week for two years. His first professional job as a touring keyboard player was in saxophonist's Walter Beasley's band in 2003, and shortly after he joined Brian McKnight's band in 2004. After a year in McKnight's band he served as the piano player and musical director for many artists including: Patti Labelle, Toni Braxton, NKOTB, Christina Aguilera, Nicole Scherzinger, Natasha Bedingfield, TLC (group)|TLC and others. Nathan has also performed with Stanley Clarke, Colbie Calliat, Jason Derulo, Babyface (musician)|Kenny 'Babyface' Edmonds, Sean Kingston, Queen Latifah, Shoshana Bean and Heavenly Joy Jerkins.[1]

In 2011, Nathan worked on the American and British version of the hit TV show X-Factor, working with contestants, arranging songs and playing piano live on air.[2]

Producing/writing career

In 2014, Nathan ended his 10 year run as a musical director and pianist to concentrate on songwriting and production.[3] Shortly after he met Rodney Jerkins who took him under his wing. Together they worked with Mary J Blige, Robin Thicke, Tamar Braxton, K. Michelle, Queen Latifah, Brandy, Jessie J, Tim Bowman Jr., and also wrote and produced several songs for Lee Daniels's hit TV shows Empire (2015 TV series)|Empire and Star (TV series)|Star. They also received a Grammy nomination for 'Best Gospel Album', co-writing and co-producing on Tim Bowman Jr.'s release 'Listen'.
