David O'Connor is a British artist.

David O’Connor was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire in 1959. He studied Fine Art at Sunderland Polytechnic (now Sunderland University) from 1977 to 1980. He was then awarded a bursary for a 2 year Higher Diploma in Fine Art at The Slade School of Fine Art, University College London from 1980 to 1982.[1]. He was taught by the landscape film maker Chris Welsby. At the Slade David was a contemporary of Mona Hatoum and Jayne Parker now the Professor of Fine Art at the Slade School[2].

He started his artistic career making Installations, Performance and Film.Early performances were made at the inception of the Basement Group (now Locus+)[3] in Newcastle. His work in Installation and Sculpture continued into the 2000s. The work slowly evolved into more traditional painting and sculpture however landscape has always been the enduring theme in his work, whatever the medium[4].

David has taught Fine Art and 3 Dimensional Design at many institutes including The University of the West of England, The Arts Institute Bournemouth and Surrey Institute of Art and Design. For 10 year David worked for Exam boards and was a Senior Verifier with Pearson and a National Lead moderator with ABC Awards. He was made a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Educational Assessors in 2009[5].

David now lives on Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire, England[6].
