Daniel Kurtenbach is an American academic, technology leader, and U.S. Army Special Forces veteran. In February of 2023, he was named the Chief Growth Officer for the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue University.
Early life and education
Kurtenbach was born in Nevada, Iowa.[1] and is a graduate of Nevada High School. In 2003, Daniel was nominated by Iowa Senator Charles Grassley for an appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point.[2] After completing his baccalaureate degree, Kurtenbach served as an infantry officer with the 1st Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment in Iskandariyah during the occupation of Iraq[3] and served as a Green Beret responsible for conducting humanitarian and rescue operations during the 2015 Nepal earthquake crisis.[4]
Kurtenbach’s post military academic experience has included Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. From these schools, he was awarded a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Public Administration respectively.[5]
Professional career
Kurtenbach’s civilian career has included positions as an Operations Program Manager on Apple’s Core Technologies Team and an appointment as a distinguished White House Fellow. During his time in the White House, Daniel advised on business and industry policy for the Small Business Administration and the Office of the Vice President.[6] Upon leaving the Biden Administration, Kurtenbach served in an executive capacity with DataRobot, where he was Director of the company's defense and intelligence portfolio. In 2023, Daniel was appointed Chief Growth Officer for the Krach Institute for Tech Diplomacy at Purdue University.[7]
