Dani Thompson known professionally as Dani N Thompson, (born February 25, 1987) is an American women entrepreneur, Video Director, Photographer, Show Producer, Talent Manager and Entertainment Executive.[1] She is the founder and CEO of DNT Entertainment, a marketing and PR agency focused on artist management, development, and music marketing.[2]

Thompson is known for her diverse skill sets and services, including photography, writing, video directing, performance preparation, marketing, promotion, graphic design, and live event production.[3]

Thompson has been featured in several prominent media publications and magazines, including Vogue, LA Weekly, Indie Artist Revolution,[4] Total Girl Boss,[5] The American Reporter,[6] Vents Magazine,[7] Times of Startups,[8] and Level Up,[9] for launching several successful careers and developing, promoting, marketing, managing and mentoring notable influencers and artists, primarily female indie pop artists such as Macy Kate, Lauren Black, Tayler Jade, Emilia Vaughn, ĒISA, Beaux King, Megan Winsor, Gianna Branca, Savannah Young, Em Davila among others.[10]

Early life and education

Thompson was born on February 25, 1987, in Orange, California, the daughter of Charles Hirbour and Anne King. In 2010, Thompson graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in broadcast journalism from California State University, Fullerton.[11] During her time in college, Thompson acquired her SAG-AFTRA eligibility for her background work in Cold Case, Without a Trace, and The Starter Wife. She spent time as a freelance reporter at OC News, and interned at CBS Television Distribution in the Casting Department for The Young and The Restless.

Career

In 2000, Thompson began her career in the music industry. In high school, Thompson was the lead singer of a promotional band for Fenders' Kids Rock Free® Music School which was backed by legendary rock icons such as Paul Rodgers and Steve Miller. She regularly participated in live performances to raise funds for free and low-cost music lessons for other aspiring musicians in the Corona, California region.[12]

During college, Thompson began working in the health and fitness industry while simultaneously pursuing her musical career, performing at Los Angeles venues, including BB Kings, The Mint, The Derby, and The Viper Room.[13]

Thompson wanted to help other musicians and artists navigate the music industry outside the major label system. In 2012, a friend of her father asked Thompson to manage and represent his 14-year-old daughter, Macy Kate, who had recently caught the attention of the producers of Fox Television's "The X Factor." As part of her job to manage and develop Macy Kate's career, she was in charge of publicity for Macy's time on Season 1 of ABC Networks' reality singing competition "Rising Star" in 2014. She also helped negotiate and manage the contract for her single "First Kiss" with Sean Kingston.

During 2005-2012, Thompson worked in the health and fitness industry in software sales for ShapeNet Software. She took a year off in 2012 to co-manage Macy Kate. In 2013 she was recruited and accepted a position as Regional Sales Director for a renowned software firm in the health and fitness industry, ABC Financial / ABC Fitness Solutions.

In 2014 Thompson launched DNT Entertainment, a management, marketing and public relations firm specializing in musical artists' management, development, and promotion. Thompson led a publicity campaign in 2014 for the film College Musical Directed by Kurt Hugo Schneider.[14]

During the years 2014-2018, Thompson is known to have produced several live corporate shows for high-end companies and brought in celebrity talents such as Flo Rida, Iggy Azalea, and Zhavia Ward to venues such as LIV nightclub at the Fontainebleau in Miami. She also became a vendor for the Irvine Company, The Montage and The LA Fair, and partnered with local booking agents to bring indie artists to high end venues in Orange County and San Diego, California, such as Monarch Beach Resort, Mission Bay Resort, The Hilton Del Mar, Vea, and The Ritz Carlton among others.

The Covid-19 pandemic severely impacted Thompson's company, so she created an Instagram account called @songs4therecord and presented weekly live broadcasts on Instagram showcasing musicians such as Evelyn Cormier and Ava August. In March 2020, this audiovisual concert series was teased on KTLA. In addition, with the availability of social media, FaceTime, zoom, and the Internet, she focused on consulting and remote talent development services that could thrive without in-person interaction. Dani then devised a method to service talent remotely and virtually restarted her firm in January 2021 shifting her focus from live event production to artist development.

Post-pandemic, Thompson is known to have partnered with the Founder and Executive Producer of OC Hit, Thomas Barsoe, to successfully launch the careers of artists such as Tayler Jade, Beaux King, Savannah Young, and others. The music video directed by Dani Thompson for Emilia Vaughn's single "Sunflower" was shown on MTV's Spankin' New, AXS TV's Music High 5, Nickelodeon, and Loop TV. In 2021 Thompson launched a radio campaign for Tayler Jade for her single “WYA,” that peaked at #31 on the Top 40 mediabase indicator chart.

Thompson’s recent works during the year 2022 include assisting Dean Lewis with publicity for his "Sad Boi Winter Summer Tour" in the US and helping him get featured in an interview on KTLA to promote his show at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. She has also been working on releasing Ethan Sak’s debut album “BLUE.” Other significant projects in 2022 include brand launches and single releases of several indie artists such as ĒISA, Emilia Vaughn, and Gianna Branca.

Personal life

Thompson married Ryan Thompson in 2011, and the couple has two children, born in 2015 and 2018. After becoming a mother, Thompson quit her corporate career and continued to establish DNT Entertainment. Her primary objective was to be a mother and to inspire and mentor emerging artists, particularly females.
