DOC2US Malaysian-based mobile application, an electronic prescription telemedicine provider founded by Dr. Raymond Choy, Jack Lee, and Agmo Studio Sdn Bhd. in 2015.[1] DOC2US is a product of Heydoc International Sdn. Bhd. It is regarded as Malaysia’s largest e-prescription telemedicine platform known for connecting users to healthcare providers throughout the country and offering an array of services.[2][3]

DOC2US was created with the aim to allow 24/7 secure and safe online doctor consultation.[4] It is the first platform to launch an approved digital signature enhanced electronic prescription (e-prescription) in Malaysia in compliance to requirements set by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.[5][6][7]

DOC2US has partnered with over 500 pharmacy outlets including Alpro pharmacy, AMPM Pharmacy, BIG Pharmacy, and Watsons Pharmacy just to name a few. The company has been featured in several mainstream media outlets such as The Star, The Edge, NST, MSN, TallyPress, HealthCare Today, and others.[8][9]

History

DOC2US was co-founded by Dr. Raymond Choy, a medical doctor, Jack Lee, an entrepreneur, and Agmo Studio Sdn Bhd., an application development company.[10]

The inception of DOC2US was initiated by Dr. Raymond Choy who witnessed his father’s experience battling Leukemia. This experience served as an inspiration to develop an app where consulting a doctor is as simple as a text away.[11]

DOC2US app was officially launched in March 2017 offering its telemedicine services to the public in Malaysia. Dr. Paul Chan, the Director, and Chief Medical Officer subsequently joined the company in 2017. DOC2US is the first telemedicine platform in Malaysia that leverages blockchain technology to ensure data integrity and privacy regarding a patient's medical history is well-maintained.[12]

DOC2US has also partnered with AIA Malaysia, one of the largest insurance companies in Malaysia in 2020 with the aim to provide virtual healthcare services to its clients and consumers. The service includes virtual consultation with doctors, electronic prescription, medication self-collection, and door-step delivery, blood tests, Covid-19 screening, vaccination programs, and home care services. Other strategic Third-Party Administrator (TPA) partners in providing corporate solutions and wellness programs include MiCare, Health-metrics, and IHP Malaysia.[13]

DOC2US in partnership with Alpro Pharmacy launched PILcube, an initiative to facilitate proper dispensing of medication, whereby technology is incorporated into the pharmacy packaging system. All medications under this initiative are placed and sealed in air-tight packages containing all prescribed pills to be taken in a certain period.[14][15]

Products and services

Digitally Authorised E-Prescriptions

DOC2US offers electronic prescriptions (e-Rx) to its users that are highly secure, safe, authentic, and valid. The digital signature enhanced e-Rx fully complies with the requirement outlined by the Ministry of Health Malaysia and Malaysia Digital Signature Act 1997. The highlighting feature of this service is that it ensures fewer human errors are made at both the doctor and pharmacist level due to prescription errors. Digitally Authorised E-Prescriptions preserve the requirements of confidentiality, identity authentication, non-repudiation, and integrity of information.[16][17]

Virtual Consultation with Certified Doctors

DOC2US by leveraging technology acts as a virtual platform that connects the patients to the doctors via a simple, easy and straightforward app interface. By booking virtual consultations, the patients can consult preferred doctors on ailments, symptoms – all through text messaging and photos or videos.[18]

Robust Telemedicine Kiosk for Partner Pharmacies

This service by DOC2US enables patients to have medicines delivered to their doorsteps, or retrieve their prescribed medications from any one of its authorised partner pharmacies in Malaysia. This feature allows the patients to skip the long hospital queue when going back to the hospital every few weeks to retrieve their medications.[19][20]

All authorised partner pharmacies are equipped with software and systems offered by DOC2US via cloud computing technology. This includes Telemedicine kiosks at pharmacies allowing on-site patients and pharmacists to video consult online doctors, Electronic Prescribing System (EPS) which allows walk-in patients to go through the smart system as assisted by the pharmacist before getting medications dispensed.[21]

Free COVID-19 Virtual Health Advisory on MySejahtera App

With the outbreak of the worldwide pandemic, DOC2US launched its COVID-19 Task Force, where it provided virtual health advisory services with doctors and healthcare professionals for free. This service is integrated into the national contact tracing app, MySejahtera app, accessible by 32.7 million Malaysians nationwide.[22]

Doorstep Medication Delivery and Real-time Tracking of Medication

DOC2US also offers medication delivery services to provide a better patient experience in healthcare. This delivery service is in collaboration with GDEX and Alpro Pharmacy.[23] The patients who opt for medication delivery service can also track their barcoded medications from GDEX in real-time.[24] This barcoded tracking system is able to ensure that the right medications are being delivered to the right patient and in the right condition.[25][26][27]
