DJ Meli Mel (born December 28, 1990) is a Mexican-American DJ,[1] entrepreneur, and record producer. She is the owner of a clothing line named MoreDedicated.[2]

DJ Meli Mel is a highly acclaimed female DJ with over 15 years of experience playing at nightclubs, events, concerts, and festivals. She has also produced several original tracks and remixes as a record producer.[3] Some popular artists she’s worked with include Yung Bleu, Fenix Flexin, Tyga, Future, JI, the prince of NY, and others.[4]

Early life and education

DJ Meli Mel was born on December 28, 1990, as Melissa Ibarra in Sacramento, California, and was raised by her aunt. She began playing drums and singing at an early age, which drew her interest in music. She attended John F Kennedy High School.

Career

Once, DJ Meli Mel attended a house party and was overwhelmed by the fact that the DJ was in charge of entertaining the crowd; thus, she conceived the idea of becoming a DJ.[5] She ventured into the industry in early 2009 and soon started getting bookings for small events, clubs, concerts, and festivals. Her DJ sets include hip-hop, r&b, party songs, and dancehall music. She is known for her versatile style that combines classic hip-hop with contemporary electronic beats, making it ideal for high-energy parties.[6][7]

Over the years, DJ Meli Mel has garnered fame and recognition as one of California's most sought-after female DJs and record producers and has worked with artists such as Lil Tjay, Teefli, Boosie, Money man, and Young Bleu. She has also performed at Rolling Loud. DJ Meli Mel has recently completed a tour with Chippas and Nef the Pharaoh.[8] In 2022, DJ Meli Mel will release a project named “Pandemic Problems” with Empire Recordings label featuring artists such as Feefah, Azjah, Teefli, Lil Yee, Capolow, and others.[9]
