In 1999 she won a bronze medal at the 1999 Pan American Games. In addition to her sporting career, she was an executive at Itaú Unibanco for 25 years, working primarily in areas related to human development and client relations. Recently, Pinciroli founded WeTeam, a specialist coaching company that also offers mentoring and inspirational speeches aimed at helping people develop their potential and achieve high performance and fulfilment not only in the sports arena but also in their careers and personal life.

Personal life

Born in Brazil, Pinciroli is the great-granddaughter of Italian migrants, and the culture of this country has always played a prominent role in her family life. She is the daughter of olympic water polo player, Pedro Pinciroli Júnior and aquatic sports featured prominently in her upbringing. At 28, she married Luís Pascual with whom she has three daughters, Alissa, Giorgia and Olívia. In 2014 the family moved to the United States.

Water Polo family

Pedro Pinciroli Junior[3], Pinciroli's father, is also a former water polo player[4]. He represented Brazil at the 1964 Olympics, in Tokyo, and again in 1968, in Mexico City. Cris Pinciroli[5] is the oldest of three children. At 16 years old, joined the Brazilian women's water polo team for the first time. Thriving from the strong support and backing of her parents[6], in 1990 Cris Pinciroli was voted one of the 7 best players in the world. The legacy[7], which began in the 60s with her father, is still going strong in 2021 in the form of Cris's eldest daughter, Allissa Pinciroli Pascual[8], who is a student and water polo player at the University of Stanford, California[9]

Playing career

Start with the Brazilian national team

Pinciroli[10] was selected for the Brazilian Women's Water Polo team at 16. This same year the team competed in its first international championship, in the USA. Following a heavy defeat, the team dedicated itself to training with greater focus and intensity.

Pan American games in Winnipeg

The Brazilian national team set off for the Pan-American games in Winnipeg[11] overseen by a former coach of the American team, Sandy Nitta, and a former player of the men's Brazilian water polo team, Rodney Bell. They secured third place after winning a close game against Cuba. At 27, with the bronze medal on her breast, Pinciroli ended her sporting career at the same venue in which her father won a silver medal with Brazil at the Pan American games in 1967. The lessons she learned through her sporting career have stayed with Pinciroli in all the other aspects of her life.

Career as an executive

Itaú-Unibanco

During the 25 years that she worked at Itaú-Unibanco[12], Pinciroli worked in many different areas related to human development, strategic planning and customer service excellence. In 2014 she moved to the United States, where she was CHRO – Chief Human Resources Officer of the Private Banking division of Itaú for Miami, New York, Bahamas and Chile.

WeTeam

At 47, after her final year as CHRO (Chief Human Resource Officer) at Banco Itaú[13], responsible for Human Resources in the US and Bahamas, Pinciroli revisited her goals in life. Having learned a lot from her successful career in sport, in business and with her family, she decided to focus on the idea of developing human potential, something that has always been central to her work. In 2019, she set up her own company, WeTeam – Chasing Excellence and Happiness[14]. It is a platform offering training programs, mentoring, workshops and lectures that guide teams and individuals to achieve their potential success and happiness.

Book: Sport as a stage for Life [15]

Pinciroli write a book with the lessons that she and her father, Pedro, took from sport and incorporated into their lives. Both were water polo players who also had successful executive careers. From this relationship of father and daughter, whose lives have followed very similar paths, the book Sport, a Stage for Life was born. In addition to the personal lessons learned by Cris and Pedro Pinciroli, the book arose from extensive bibliographical research that supports with theory the lessons that they both experienced in practice.

Voluntary work – Project Arca+

Pinciroli acts as Education Curator[16] at the non-profit organization Arca +. Her role is to identify partners and relevant content for education and human development programs aimed at social inclusion in the communities where the project operates.
