Coverking is a private manufacturer, wholesaler, and direct-to-consumer retailer of custom seat covers and custom vehicle covers.[1] It is headquartered in Anaheim, California, United States, with operations across the world. Coverking was founded by an Industrial and Electrical Engineer who worked in Southern California's Aerospace Defense industry. It is a retail brand of Shrin Corp and is managed by Custom Product Incorporated.[2][3][4]
The company is best known for offering a vast range of vehicle covers, especially its custom-made covers for numerous cars, jeeps, and trucks such as Mosom Plus™, Silverguard™, Silverguard Plus™, Rhinohide™, Snuggleplush™, and others.[5]
Since its inception in 1986, Coverking has been a preferred supplier to auto producers around the world such as GM, Ford, Chrysler, Mercedes, BMW, Honda, Toyota Racing, Nissan, Kia, Subaru and others.[6]
History
Coverking was established in 1986. At that time, it was a pioneer in the field of mass customization. Mass customization is the process of producing a unit quantity of one of a highly personalized product at a price competitive with that of a mass-produced item. Additionally, Coverking produced many such products in order to ship time of 24 hours, an amazing feat at that time. Coverking accomplished this by automating a large part of the production process using sophisticated CAD/CAM (computer-aided-Design / Computer-aided-Manufacturing) in conjunction with just-in-time principles. Coverking was the first company in this space to adopt ISO and TS16949 quality standards throughout its organization.[7]
Coverking developed its own proprietary fabrics and other materials in collaboration with some of the world’s leading textile mills. These fabrics are protected under various trademarks such as Auto Body Armor™, Stormproof™, Rhinohyde™, Mosom Plus™, Silverguard™, Silverguard Plus™, Rhinohide™, Snuggleplush™, and many others. These fabrics use state-of-the-art technologies such as micro denier textiles, nano materials and microporous thermoplastic polyurethane composite. The company then manufactures its designs ensuring that the end product meets the most stringent assessments. Coverking's covers are available in many fabrics and colors/patterns. The highlighting feature of Coverking is that it pays attention to the minute details such as seatback storage pockets, purpose-built attachments, 3D advanced patterns, seams that match your original seats, and 360-degree protection.[8]
All the designs offered by Coverking are created by experienced designers with the help of 3D scanners where they pay attention to every curve and detail of each vehicle, and then create custom designs with the fewest seams possible. They also make sure to sew in the custom mirror and antenna pockets for a seamless vehicle’s exterior fitting.[9]
Some of the bespoke designs by the firm that gained public acclaim are BMW Z8 Bespoke Cover Featuring Henrik Fisker Design Sketches, The Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, Cover and The Chevrolet Grand Sport Cover.[10]
In due course of time Coverking also expanded to manufacturing non-automotive products under different brands - Apsara Style, Lumbini Graphics, Tarra Home and several others.[11]
