Connie Galiwango Nakayenze born on 31 August 1967 is a Uganda politician and teacher by profession. she started her political career in 2011 where she contested as the District woman representative for Mbale Constituency in Mbale District, in the Eastern Region, Uganda. She has been the Woman Representative for Mbale Constituency up to date..[1]

Background

Connie was born on 31 August 1967 in Mbale District, more commonly known as Mbale[2]. She is Uganda politician and a teacher by profession [3] who has served as a Woman Member of parliament representing Mbale constituency as the District Woman Representative [2]

Education

Connie attended Gangama primary school in Mbale District for her elementary education and Kabwangasi Primary Teacher's College where she attained an award of Grade III Teachers Certificate. In 1992, Connie obtained an award of Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education from Mbale hall in Mbale District. In 1995, she went on to obtain a diploma in secondary education in National Teacher's College in Nagongera. In 2001, she obtained the degree in Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences from Islamic University in Uganda, also from Islamic University in Uganda. In 2008, she obtained the degree of Master of Arts in Education Management[4].

Work experience

Connie's career began in 1989 when she joined civil service as a teacher at Nabuyonga Primary School for a period of four years. Connie later joined Mbale Secondary school and Mbale High school from 1995 to 2003 and 2003 to 2011 respectively. In 2011, Connie joined the political field where she contested for a Woman Representative Parliamentary seat for Mbale Constituency under the National Resistance Movement party ticket and emerged the best representing Mbale Constituency in the 9th Parliament [4]. Furthermore, Connie joined the Uganda Women Parliamentary Association(UWOPA) established in the 5th parliament of Uganda as a member under the Employment Act[5].

Personal Details

Nakayenze is married to Dr Hassan Wasswa Galiwango who is the former director of Finance and Administration in the ruling National Resistance Movement[6]. In addition to that, he is the current Director of Mobilization and Cadre development in the Ruling National Resistance Movement party [7].
