La Placa has published several poetry collections and has been featured in numerous international anthologies.

Early life and education

Concetta La Placa was born on July 30, 1960, in Caltanissetta, Sicily, Italy, to Alfonso La Placa and Giovanna Farruggia. She grew up in a family that valued traditional roots, creativity, and social engagement, which influenced her early interest in literature, photography, psychology, and the arts.

She attended the Alessandro Volta Scientific Lyceum in Caltanissetta, where she earned her Scientific Baccalaureate Diploma in 1979. She later pursued higher education at the University of Trieste, obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Administration and Management of Social Policies (57/S) in 2020.

La Placa is a registered social worker and a member of the National Professional Order of Italian Social Workers. Over the years, she has completed several specialization courses in her field, accredited by the Italian legal and university system, further enhancing her expertise in social policies, human rights, and public welfare.

Career

La Placa is married to Michele Tumminelli and has two children, Andrea Antonio Tumminelli and Eliana Antonia Tumminelli. La Placa has three grandchildren, Daniele Fratini, Alba and Aurora Tumminelli.

She is currently retired from her work as a ministerial official since April 2024. He divides his time between Rome, where he lives, and Caltanissetta (Sicily), his hometown, where his elderly mother lives. Her interests include the social issues of our time, literature, psychology, art, poetry, creative writing, music, cooking, and gardening.
