Clay Riley (born December 21, 1975) is an American politician who has served as a Delegate from the 48th District to the West Virginia House of Delegates since 2020. Riley is a Republican Party (United States).
Early life, education, and career
Riley was born in Shinnston, West Virginia, to Bob and Ann Riley. He graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science in Electric Engineering and Computer Engineering. Riley is the Vice President of Strategic Growth of The Thrasher Group, a West Virginia-based engineering firm. He also serves as President of the West Virginia Chapter of the American Council of Engineering Companies.[1]
Elections
2020
In the 2020 Republican primary, Riley placed fourth in a field of seven candidates where the top four moved on to the general election.[2]
In the general election, Riley placed fourth out of eight candidates with 13.3% of the vote where the top four vote-getters were elected.[2]
2022
In 2022, Riley's district changed during the state redistricting process following the 2020 United States census. Riley was unopposed in the primary election for West Virginia's new 72nd House District. He will face Democrat Derek McIntyre in the general election.[2]
