Chris Sweeney is a British director, writer and podcaster, known for television series including Agatha Christie's Seven Dials (2026), Apples Never Fall (2024) and The Tourist (TV series) (2022)[1] as well as the podcast series HOMO SAPIENS.[2][3][4]
Television Career
Sweeney began working in film and television directing short-form and music content before moving into scripted TV drama.[5][6] He gained wider visibility when he directed the comedy-drama Back to Life (TV series), produced for BBC and Showtime.[7]
In 2022, Sweeney went on to direct and executive produce the series The Tourist (TV series) starring Jamie Dornan for BBC One, Stan and HBO Max.[8][9]
In 2023, Variety reported that Sweeney would direct and executive produce the adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s novel Apples Never Fall for Peacock, starring Annette Bening and Sam Neill for Peacock.[10]
Most recently, Sweeney has directed and executive produced an adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Seven Dials Mystery for Netflix starring Mia McKenna-Bruce and Helena Bonham Carter, which is scheduled for release in early 2026.[11]

HOMO SAPIENS Podcast
In 2017 Sweeney created the LGBTQ+ podcast HOMO SAPIENS with musician Will Young.[12] Chris has presented the since the first episode with guest Owen Jones aired in 2017.[3] Since then, over 300 episodes have been released, with the most recent series starring guests including Kadiff Kirwan, Joe Lycett and Jessie Ware.[3]
Inspired by Woman's Hour,[2] the show features interviews with cultural figures, listener contributions and discussions about queer life and community. It has been featured as Podcast of The Week by both The Times and The Guardian.[13][14]
