John Zelimir Blazevich (born January 1, 1955) is an American Invention, Entrepreneurship, and Philanthropy. He is best known for his work with shrimp aquaculture in Southeast Asia. Blazevich founded Contessa Premium Foods in Los Angeles, California, and served as the company’s president and CEO for 27 years.

Career

In 1984, Blazevich founded Contessa Premium Foods in San Pedro, Los Angeles, California.[1] The company began as a small importer of seafood, Asian fruits and vegetables making over $4 billion in sales.

Blazevich has secured numerous international patents, trademarks and copyrights for a wide range of marketed products.[2]

In 2008, Blazevich built Contessa’s Green Cuisine plant,[3] the world’s first “green” LEED certified frozen food manufacturing plant.[1][4][5]

Environmental and Humanitarian Work

Blazevich first decided to build an energy-efficient factory when he learned that food manufacturers in the United States produce more than 150 million tons of Carbon dioxide emissions|carbon-dioxide emissions each year.[6]

Personal Life

Blazevich is engaged to Alex McLeod, American television host and entertainment news correspondent.[7]
