Chloe Chua is a Singaporean Child prodigy violinist, known for her joint win of the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists in 2018.[1][2]

Early life and education

Chua was born the only child of businessman Chua Sui Tee and piano teacher Lim Eng Lee. She began learning the piano at the age of two, and the violin at the age of four at Singapore's Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.[3] She continues to study under her longtime mentor, Yin Ke.[4][5]

In 2015, she won first prize at the Thailand International String Competition, and in 2017, first prize at the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition.[6]

In 2018, she competed in the Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists, where she gained fame for her rendition of Vivaldi's The Four Seasons Winter, which was published on YouTube.[7] She shared a joint win of the competition with Chinese-Australian violinist Christian Li, the first time the prize had been shared in its history.[8][9] After winning the Menuhin Competition, she was invited by Saudi Arabia's General Authority for Culture General Authority for Culture to perform at two concerts in Riyadh and Jeddah.[10] In 2020, she was invited by the Embassy of Singapore in Ankara to record a rendition of the Turkish National Anthem in celebration of Turkey's Republic Day.[11]
