Dr. Cheryl Denise BryantBruce, M.D. (born March 12, 1960), is an American integrative wellness physician, entrepreneur, professional speaker, talk show host, author, columnist, and entertainer. She is the founder and CEO of Cheryl BryantBruce M.D. & Assoc., Inc. and The Celebrity Doc. She is best known for hosting "Chatters That Matter—Let's Talk About It" and as a columnist for Celeb Life, Celeb Staff, and Luxe Life magazines.[1]

Dr. BryantBruce is a notable proponent of integrative wellness management, mental health, and longevity medicine. She is recognized as “The Celebrity Doc” and has been acknowledged in Time Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People in the World." Additionally, she has recently been honored in Best in California Magazine for Excellence in Medicine as a Top Concierge Physician. She also recently received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joe Biden.[2]

Early life and education

Dr. BryantBruce was born on March 12, 1960, in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, and grew up as an Air Force dependent, residing in various bases across Europe and Southeast Asia. Her academic prowess, intellectual abilities, and proficiency in the arts led her high school to suggest early college admission at the age of 13.

After graduating from Cordova High School in 1977, Dr. BryantBruce initially pursued wildlife and fisheries biology aspiring for a career in exotic animal medicine before obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Spanish literature in 1981. She further studied acting at Weist-Barron Studios.

In 1989, Dr. BryantBruce earned a medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine, beginning her career with a family practice internship at Womack Army Community Hospital, Fort Bragg, North Carolina. During the Gulf War era, she served as an army doctor at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Subsequently, Dr. BryantBruce joined the Morehouse Family Residency program in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating in 1996. In 1997, she completed a Fellowship in Family Medicine Faculty Development.

Career

Dr. BryantBruce is a licensed medical doctor practicing in California, Tennessee, Georgia, and Texas.[3]

In 2005, Dr. BryantBruce became one of the pioneers of concierge medicine, establishing Cheryl BryantBruce M.D. & Assoc., Inc., aka Elite Personal Physician Services, Inc. a full-spectrum family medicine practice catering to newborns and geriatric patients. She is an expert in mental health and wellness for high-profile individuals and those navigating midlife challenges. Dr. BryantBruce specializes in integrative wellness management, longevity medicine, anti-aging, and esthetic/cosmetic medicine. The practice provides a comprehensive weight management program, focusing on lifestyle changes and integrating nutrition and fitness within a lifestyle medicine framework. It offers access to bio-identical hormone therapies such as the Wiley Protocol and exclusive minimally invasive cosmetical medical treatments.[4]

Dr. BryantBruce created the blueprint of the integrative, mobile concierge medicine practice paradigm. Known as one of the top three pioneers of concierge medicine, she utilizes a hybrid approach, offering both in-person and telemedicine consultations to meet clients' preferences. While primarily based in California, the practice is operationally mobile, providing global services via house calls, office visits, and on-location consultations, delivering highly personalized care to clients.[5]

During her time at Morehouse School of Medicine, Dr. BryantBruce founded The Gregory Center for Exceptional Children and Families, Inc., a non-profit organization for children with disabilities and chronic diseases, recognized by both the Clinton and Bush administrations.[6]

Dr. BryantBruce served as a physician liaison to the HealthCare Provider Network Alliance. In 1998, she established the Alpha Omega Family Medical Center, offering comprehensive family medical services.

As an international speaker, Dr. Cheryl BryantBruce addresses diverse topics such as mental and emotional wellness, midlife mastery, relationship dynamics, resilience, and empowering individuals dealing with challenges like pseudo-abuse and supporting families with disabilities. Additionally, she addresses themes related to Black Girl Magic, empowering individuals to elevate their lives to their fullest potential and live their best lives.

Dr. BryantBruce participated in notable speaking engagements, including the Nobel Peace Prize awarded to the Human Genome Project for decoding genetic information. Additionally, she served as a prominent expert consulted regarding the appropriateness of care provided in the case of the late music legend Michael Jackson. She also served as a United Nations delegate and featured speaker at San Francisco's Women’s Entrepreneurial Day (WED).[7]

In 2009, she founded The Celebrity Doc, a wellness company utilizing broadcast media to educate on health-related topics. Her platform, TheCelebrityDoc.com, hosts the talk show "Chatters That Matter—Let's Talk About It," which is broadcast globally on EMBCTV and Radio Networks. The show, managed by Ricky Aaron of Uncle Snoops Army, features celebrity guests and multi-industry experts.[8]

Entertainment career

Dr. BryantBruce began her acting career in the UK, where she gained recognition in New Faces in Hollywood and was titled Miss Black Sacramento. She has modeled in cities like New York, London, and Manila, and Boston, gaining attention from industry figures like Bob Fosse and Bruce Anthony Davis.[9]

She has contributed to off-Broadway productions in New York, such as the musical "Ben" by Ben Gooding. Her portfolio includes engagements in USO shows, local theater productions, and church choirs. Cheryl received a nomination for a Roxy award for her role in "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide / When the Rainbow Is Enuf."[10]

Transitioning to film, Dr. BryantBruce appeared in productions like "Good Guys Finish Last," "Marrying God," and "Angels and Demons." Her acting skills and medical expertise led to appearances on national shows like The Doctors, CNN's Anderson Cooper 360 with Dr. Sanjay Gupta, and Access Hollywood.[11]

Personal life

Dr. BryantBruce, still an animal lover, currently resides in Sacramento, California with her two dogs. Her two children and her father live nearby.

Cheryl Denise married Broadway entertainer Bruce Anthony Davis, Sr., in October 1988, and they had three children: Bruce Anthony (son), Dominique Denise (daughter), and Christopher Gabriel (son). She divorced Bruce in 1990, and he passed away in 2019. Her elder son also lost his life in 2021 due to a fatal gunshot wound.

In 1992, Dr. BryantBruce married Gregory David Bruce. They legally separated in 1996, but did not finalize the divorce until 2012. Their son, Gregory David BryantBruce, Jr., succumbed to a liver disease in November 2003.
