Chelsea Rose Devantez is an American comedian, writer, actress, and Podcast.

In 2017, Devantez first rose to prominence when she joined The Opposition with Jordan Klepper as a writer. [1] Following The Opposition, Devantez began her own podcast, Celebrity Book Club with Chelsea Devantez[2], before becoming the head writer of The Problem with Jon Stewart in 2021.[3]

Early Life

Devantez grew up in the American Southwest with a single mother.[4] She studied drama at New York University Tisch School of the Arts.[5]

Career

While at New York University, she studied at The Second City and Columbia College Chicago Comedy Studies program.[4]

In 2014, she began acting in The Second City's mainstage revues to mixed critical response.[6][7][8]

Later in 2017, Devantez joined the writers room of The Opposition with Jordan Klepper.[1] Following the cancelation of The Opposition she wrote several episodes for second season of the 2017 revival of The Gong Show.Afterwhich, she went on to write for different television programs including Abby's, Bless This Mess (TV series) This Mess, and Girls5eva. She also wrote, directed, and stared in a short film, Basic, which premiered at the 2020 SXSW Festival and was nominated for the Grand Jury Award.[9]

Devantez began producing and hosting a podcast in 2020 titled Celebrity Book Club with Chelsea Devantez, that consists of new guests discussing Memoir written by Female Celebrities.[2]During the same year, she sold a single-camera television show entitled This Is Our Year to CBS, which is inspired from her life growing up in the southwest with a single mother; she created the show with Barbie Adler and 20th Television.[10]

In 2021, Devantez was named the head writer of The Problem with Jon Stewart, after she was a writer for an untitled Jon Stewart HBO project in 2017[11] that was cancelled prior to production beginning due to "technical problems."[12]

On February 28, 2022, it was announced Devantez had signed a multi-year deal with 20th Television to produce and oversee original comedy projects, and that she would be departing from her role as head writer of The Problem with Jon Stewart.[13][14][15]
