Charity Brown (born 8 February 1976 Corvallis, Oregon) is an American entrepreneur, consultant, and CFO.[1] She is the founder of NOW ANSWER GROUP LLC, a platform that supports entrepreneurs to expand their businesses and is popularly known as an Accounting Guru.[2] Brown is known for her successful entrepreneurial career as a restaurateur and was the president of a corporation that ran five restaurants and bars in 20 locations. She was a corporate controller, along with her successful boutique online classytype.com.

Brown specializes in GAAP, SFAS, FASB, CFO Consulting, and has over 20 years of experience working with several CPA firms. Brown has contributed in the areas of financial reporting, streamlined accounting operations, finance policy and procedures, emerging technology, e-commerce, social media, and developed a universal high-level multi-tool training program.

Over the years, Brown has worked with numerous small and large-scale companies (1-350M dollar) and helped them grow. Brown’s firm, Now Answer Group, is also endorsed by Kevin Harrington, a leading entrepreneur and one of the original sharks from the Shark Tank. The company is known for helping entrepreneurs gain successful capital cash flow and effective strategies. It primarily works as a CFO and program creator to help scale businesses in complex economies.

Brown focuses on helping business owners and the specific niches of hospitality, e-commerce, nonprofits, and professional services. She has traveled to 20 countries in the last few years and has helped hundreds of business owners start and scale their businesses. Apart from her corporate endeavors, she has owned and operated her own restaurants, bars, and lottery facilities along with her accounting firm and boutique/e-commerce stores.

Early life and education

Brown was born on 8 February 1976 in Corvallis, Oregon. She went to Lincoln High School. Brown pursued a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business management at Oregon State University. She graduated in 2002. After a hiatus of six years, Brown pursued another degree at the Oregon State University, majoring in Entrepreneurial and Business Operations along with Mass Communication.

Career

Brown started her career in 2000 when she began working as a staff accountant at the Archdiocese of Portland. Brown worked for over three years, where she was responsible for the nonprofit departmental accounting, payroll utilization, and benefit allocation. In the same year, Brown became a consultant for her own company Qbooks Consulting Services, where she consulted for business in accounting and business operations for over 20 years.

In 2004, Brown joined Wells Inc. as a Co-Chief Executive Officer. Brown worked for over four years with this corporation, where she was the co-executive officer and responsible for financial reporting, HR functions, hiring, interviewing, and managing employee records. During her tenure at this firm, Brown assisted with the creation of company policies and procedures manuals, along with analyzing financial data, tracking assets, managing banks, and sitting on the board and advisory committee.

Brown joined MIS Consulting & Sales Inc. in 2008. Her key responsibilities as an accounting consultant included consulting real estate professionals with accounting functions and developing a sound system utilizing custom ERP (REAL Ledger software). She was also responsible for the reconciliation of liabilities and G/L, along with depreciation and asset allocation. Brown left MIS in 2011.

After her retirement from Qbooks Consulting Services, Brown joined NOW CFO, an accounting firm based in Utah. She was an integral member of the company’s “roll-up your sleeves” campaign. Brown was responsible for the smooth working of the accounting and finance domain for over 100 different companies.

In 2019 Brown established the Now Business Academy, a professional training and coaching institute based in Beaverton, Oregon. Brown, with this institute, aims at bridging the corporate burnout gap and supporting business owners and entrepreneurs to expand their business, and facilitate resources to help encourage continued growth and development. Now Answer group is also endorsed by Kevin Harrington, one of the original sharks from Shark Tank and successful entrepreneur.

Personal Life

Brown is the daughter of Suzanne Jane Brown and granddaughter of William G Brown and Doris Jane Brown. She has a daughter, Julyana Brown, who is 21 years old and is a world traveler and business developer.
