Carmic Con is a North American social media outlet that supports the “American Itasha” community in the United States by promoting the American Itasha lifestyle and culture around it via its social media platforms and events.[1]

The business is best known for hosting custom American Itasha Auto Shows embedded within comic, anime, and gaming conventions in Texas. Carmic Con has also launched a diverse range of merchandise under its two brands “Intergalactic Weeb” and “Waifu”.[2]

In America, an American Itasha is a vehicle decorated with images of fictional characters from anime, cartoon, manga, comics, movies, video games, fan tributes, or any pop culture reference. The decorations usually involve either paint schemes, stickers, or various degrees of Vinyl wraps.[3]

"American Itasha" expands on the explanation of Traditional Japanese Itasha in America.

History

Carmic Con was launched in 2020, a year after K. Dixon coined the term ‘American Itasha.’ The name of this social media outlet was created as an unique wordplay of the widely-known entertainment convention, Comic Con. The brands mascot representation is led by Carmic, an alien from space who traveled to Earth for one cycle and fell in love with the culture inclusive to comics, anime, & gaming conventions.[4]

Dixon, prior to founding Carmic Con was an automotive-enthusiast who ran a YouTube channel called Whurree Uzumaki TV. This channel was later rebranded as Carmic Con. Since then, he has been actively attending local car shows showing off his weapped vechicles and building up the themed car community in and around the State of Texas.

In due course of time, Dixon discovered a traditional Itasha car on his adventures and immediately loved the entire concept. He then decided to wrap his American Muscle as a tribute to Naruto who was a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto. Shortly thereafter, he began exhibiting his car at several Comic and anime conventions. After exhibiting his car at multiple conventions around the country, he decided to create Carmic Con and host American Itasha Car Shows in partnership with different entities of conventions in Texas.[5]

In 2019, Houston Comicpalooza became the first pop-culture comic convention to allow Dixon to professionally exhibit his Naruto themed car as an attraction. Comicpalooza is the fourth largest Houston-based organized event, following the Houston Rodeo, Houston Pride, and the Astroworld Festival. That opportunity gave fuel to the cause and contributed to a large anime car show of 25 American Itasha Cars just two years later.

Carmic Con, as of 2022, hosts American Itasha car shows in Houston, Dallas, and Beaumont. The business also sales its intergalactic Weeb, Waifu, Otaku, Nerd, Geek, & Dweeb merchandise brands online and at various conventions.
