Brandon L. Wolfe (born September 6, 1981) is an American university administrator, researcher, advocate, and public speaker in the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in higher education.

Early Life and Education

Wolfe was born in Birmingham, Alabama and spent his childhood attending schools in Alabama, Arizona, and Georgia. He is a 1999 graduate of Midfield High School and a 2005 (Bachelors of Psychology), 2006 (Masters in Adult Education), and 2010 (PhD in Administration of Higher Education) graduate of Auburn University. During his time at Auburn University, Wolfe actively engaged issues of diversity, equity and inclusion as a student leader in response to the University's Halloween blackface party[1], and later as an employee. Some of his noted accomplishments include being the co-founder of the undergraduate chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored Peoples (2004) where he coined the phrase "Make history or make excuses," authoring the Auburn University SGA Pact on Diversity (2005)[2], assisting in the development of the Africana Students program minor (2005), and served as the youngest vice president in the history of the Auburn Black Faculty and Staff Caucus (2008).

In addition to his formal education, Wolfe's postgraduate training includes: Peabody Fellow at the Peabody Professional Institute for Higher Education Management (2014), American Association of Blacks in Higher Education's Leadership Mentoring Institute (2015), National Association for Diversity Officers in Higher Education Standards of Professional Practice Institute (2018), and Young American Leaders Program at Harvard Business School (2019).

Career and Research

Wolfe devotes his professional life to developing and implementing strategies to establish, sustain, and advance diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts across higher education and non-profit agencies. He currently serves as the inaugural Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief Diversity Officer at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte[3]. He joined Charlotte after serving as the inaugural assistant vice president for campus and community engagement in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB)[4]. He held roles at the University of Alabama School of Medicine[5], North Alabama Center for Educational Excellence, Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University, Auburn University, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Lee County. In addition, Wolfe is a 2002-2003 AmeriCorps alum.
