Brad Polumbo (born November 12, 1997) is an American political journalist and YouTube personality. He identifies as a right of center libertarian. He advocates for free market capitalism and fiscally conservative policies.
Early Life and Education
Brad grew up in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. He learned Spanish in high school and can understand and speak it at an intermediate level. He worked as a security guard and wrote for the campus newspaper Massachusetts Daily Collegian while attending college. Initially, he intended to go to law school to become a lawyer before shifting his focus to journalism. Brad graduated from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelor's degree in Economics in 2019. [1]
Career
Brad has written op-ed|op-eds for USA Today, National Review, Newsweek, and other major news outlets. He has also appeared on TV and radio outlets including Fox News, The Glenn Beck Radio Show, Newsmax, Blaze Media, and numerous other outlets.
In October 2019, Brad started a YouTube channel under his name where he discusses various political topics, host interviews, and reacts to "woke" Tiktok videos. He hosts a segment on his YouTube channel called Damage Control which focuses on "reclaiming the LGBT community from the insane leftists" by interviewing conservative leaning famous LGBT figures including transwoman Blaire White, Buck Angel, Gays Against Groomers founder Jaimee Michelle, and others. Brad supports gay marriage and homosexual couples being able to adopt children but he does not support children under the age of 18 being able to receive transgender hormone therapy, puberty blocker|puberty blockers, or other gender affirming surgeries.[2]
On March 17, 2021, Brad testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship where he reported on the unintended and deadly effects of lockdowns and social isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic on school aged children's mental health worldwide.[3]
On October 14, 2022, Brad appeared on a Dr. Phil episode titled "Zoomers vs Boomers" to discuss and debate generational differences where Brad criticized cancel culture and President Biden's student debt relief plan.[4]
Brad served as a policy correspondent and editor at Foundation for Economic Education from 2020 to 2022.
In 2022, He co-founded BasedPolitics and The Based Politics Podcast with Hannah Cox where they discuss trending political events and topics from a libertarian perspective.
Personal life
He currently has a boyfriend and a dog named Reggie. He lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
When he lived in Washington, D.C., Brad was kicked off a gay men's soccer team for suggesting that biological differences between men and women give men physical advantages in sports. [5]
In an article written in 2020 titled "What Father's Day Means to the Fatherless", Brad mentioned that he moved in with his father when he was 13 years old shortly after his parent's divorce. As of 2020, he has a strained relationship with his father and stepmother due to abuse and has not spoken to his father for four years however he has a good relationship with his mother and sister.[6]
