Bob B.M. Wong is an Associate Professor and the Deputy Head of the school of Biological Sciences at Monash University, Australia, and the Secretary of the International Society for Behavioral Ecology. In 2019 he became a subject editor for Animal Behaviour[1] and Oikos Journal[2]. He was granted a Future Fellowship by the Australian Research Council and is also Chair of the Organizing Committee for the upcoming 2022 International Society for Behavioral Ecology Congress. He was born in Singapore[3] and currently resides in Melbourne (Victoria).

Wong is publicly open about his identity as a gay man. In describing himself and his career, he has stated "As an academic of Asian heritage and a member of the LGBT community, I am a strong advocate for diversity in STEM."[4]

He was awarded a PhD. in Ecology, Evolution and Systematics at the Australian National University in 2004, as well as earned a Bachelor's degree in Laws and Science[5]. Following two postdoctoral stints working at Boston University and the University of Helsinki, he returned to Australia to join Monash University. He has been a full-time teaching and research academic in Monash’s School of Biological Sciences since 2005.

His research group's scope covers a range of animal species, from fish to invertebrates; focuses includes the evolution of animal mating systems, parental care, and the impact of anthropogenic activities and pharmaceuticals on animal behavior. His recent work can be found in peer-reviewed journals such as Animal Behaviour (journal), Biological Invasions, Current Biology, Ethology (journal), Environmental Pollution (journal), Reproduction (journal), Environmental Science & Technology.[6]
