Blockchain Founders Fund (BFF) is a Singapore-based venture capital fund that invests in early-stage web3 companies in various sectors including infrastructure,[1] tooling, Decentralized Finance (DeFi), and the application layer.[2][3][4]
History
Blockchain Founders Fund was co-founded by Aly Madhavji and Mansoor Madhavji in January 2018.[5] The fund is based in Singapore and holds a Capital Markets Services License from the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS).[6] It focuses on investing in high-potential blockchain startups globally and offers support through its industry-leading venture program to help seasoned and first-time entrepreneurs fast-track their growth.[7][8]
In February 2023, BFF closed its Fund II with $75 million in commitments, making 50 new investments in the past year.[9][10] The fund supports pre-seed and seed-stage startups to empower the next generation of Web3 innovators. Notable investors include well-known figures and institutions such as AppWorks, Sebastien Borget (COO of The Sandbox), NEO Global Capital (NGC), and Sandeep Nailwal (co-founder of Polygon).[11]
Investments
Blockchain Founders Fund has made 178 investments across two funds.[12] Notable portfolio companies include Berachain, NodeOps, Limewire,[13] Altered State Machine (acquired by Futureverse), Freename, zkPass, Kino, GRID, Arf (acquired by Huma Finance), Supersight, US Bitcoin Corp (equal merger with Hut8 NASDAQ:HUT), Dogami, LunarCrush, Flow48, Backed Finance, Omega Finance, Validation Cloud, and Magna.[14]
Awards and recognitions
In 2024, the Blockchain Founders Fund was recognized as the Early Stage Blockchain Venture Capital Fund of the Year 2024 by the Singapore Business Awards.[15][16] They were also recognized at the FinTech Awards 2023 as the Best Early-Stage Blockchain Venture Capital Fund.[17]
