Blake Amiri Edwards, known by his stage name Blizz Vito aka Bossed Up Blake, is an American rapper, singer, entrepreneur, and songwriter of Panamanian descent that was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York.[1]I He was named to the Source Magazine Top 20 Rising Artists of 2020.[2] His Opp Down song has over 6 million streams on all streaming platforms.[3] In July 2019, he rose to fame with his single "Right Now", a melodic song about sobriety and success, the video of the song debuted on WorldstarHipHop.com and received over a million streams. [4][5][6] He signed himself to his own label Bossed Up Music Entertainment.[7][8]

He gained popularity in the Brooklyn drill music scene with his releases “Opp Down Ricky, Ricky and “Opp Down Pt.2”.[9][10]In August 2020, Blake released Opp Down Pt. 2 “Fuego Freestyle”, collaborating with U.K. drill producer 808 Melo and K.O.T.C. (Kidz on the Corners).[11][12] The song received praise from The Source Magazine and Hip Hop Weekly Magazine, and Allhiphop.com for its high energy staccato flow and unique drill sound.[13][14][15]

Early life

Blake Amiri Edwards was born in Brooklyn, New York, where he was also raised in the Clinton Hills section of Bedford-Stuyvesant. He grew up listening to Jay-Z and Biggie Smalls.[16][17]

He started rapping at the age of 19 and started his own music and publishing company and Bossed Up Music.[18]

Career

In July 2019, Blizz Vito garnered public attention with the release of ‘Right Now’, the video debuted on Worldstarhiphip.com and went viral with over a million views.[19]He followed that release with ‘Fake Friends’ that debuted on WorldstarHipHop.com on December 2019 which also generated over a million views.[20] [21] In January 2020, he collaborated with UK drill producer 808 Melo and K.O.T.C., releasing the Brooklyn drill single, ‘Opp Down, Ricky, Ricky’.[22][23] The song was listed on the Hot on Drill list on Genius.com and has garnered over 5 million streams on all platforms.[24][25][26]

Over the last year, he has racked up over 16 million streams online most of them coming from YouTube and Spotify.[27] [28] In August 2020, he released Opp Down Pt. 2 ‘Fuego Freestyle’ with 808 Melo and K.O.T.C.[29][30][31][32]The song received praise from The Source Magazine and Hip Hop Weekly Magazine, EarMilk and others. The song was praised for its high energy staccato flow and unique drill sound.[33][34]

In 2020, Blizz Vito was named to The Source Magazine Top 20 Rising Artists of 2020.[35]

Personal life

Born and raised in Bedford Stuyvesant, which is the same neighborhood that was also the birthplace of the late rapper Biggie Smalls and Jay-Z.[36] In 2018, Blake self-financed his music career.[36]
