Bernd Bergmair (occasionally Bergemar, born 1968 in Ansfelden) is an Austro-British investor. According to the research platform Dossier, he is the main owner of the parent company of the porn video website Pornhub.[1]

Life

Bergmair was a largely unknown investor until May 2021. He grew up as the son of farmers in Ansfelden, attended high school in Linz and switched to HLBLA St. Florian. He then studied at the University of Linz and graduated in 1992 with a diploma thesis on a topic of company acquisition: Evaluation of corporations and financing strategies in connection with M & A, LBO and MBO.[2]

He then graduated from the Chicago Business School. He worked for Goldman Sachs in New York City | New York and rose to become a partner.[1] Then he worked in Frankfurt am Main, Hong Kong and London. In 2006 he became the owner of the porn website RedTube.[1] In 2013 he sold the site to Manwin, which is now called Mindgeek.

He is married to the Instagram model Priscila Bergmair and lives in London.[3]

Mindgeek

In December 2020, the Financial Times published a report on Mindgeek's ownership structure.[4] Mindgeek is Owner of Pornhub, which has come under international criticism for insufficient protection of improperly uploaded porn videos. The Financial Times report was based on a parliamentary inquiry in Canada of Pornhub's practice, in which Mindgeek directors and minority owners David Marmorstein Tassillo and Feras Antoon named "Bernard Bergemar" as the main owner. As a result, there was a cooperation between the British research platform Tortoise Media and the Austrian "Dossier", which identified "Bernard Bergemar" with Bernd Bergmair.[5] The "Dossier" research showed that he covers 103 hectares of land in Austria and is registered as the owner via various letterbox companies.[1] After it became known that her husband is the owner of the porn company, his wife is reported to have asked him to sell the business.[6]
