AutoCrypt is a total connected car security software for security for communications in Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). It meets the industry standards published by established organizations such as Crash Avoidance Metrics Partnership (CAMP),[1] the IEEE, and other related authorities. AutoCrypt provides 6 different systems for the ITS, E-mobility, Mobility as a service, In-Vehicle Security, and smart cars connected cars.[2]

History

Launched in 2007 by Penta Security Systems Inc., AutoCrypt provides safe and trusted communications between vehicles and infrastructure networks to protect roads and connected vehicles. AutoCrypt PKI and V2X have been tested comprehensively in smart city environments, and have proven to be compliant with SCMS v1.2 and IEEE 1609.2:2016 requirements. It also includes features that have been conceptually listed in SCMS v1.2, such as the Device Certificate Management (DCM) enrollment, re-enrollment of Enrollment Certificate, and distribution of Certificate Revocation Lists (CRLs).

Recognition and awards

  • 2017: Selected as provider for authentication system for next-generation ITS businesses[3][4]
  • 2019: AutoCrypt nominated as TU-Automotive's “Best Auto Cybersecurity Product/Service”[5]

Features

AutoCrypt includes Public Key Infrastructure (Public key infrastructure (PKI) and Vehicle-to-everything (V2X) components via Dedicated Short Range Communications Dedicated short-range communications(DSRC) and cellular V2X technology. It features security components on both the back-end server infrastructure and end-points (i.e. vehicle OBUs and RSUs).[6] In addition, the Advanced Firewall (AFW) analyzes packets from external sources, and also includes IDS capabilities to monitor suspicious internal network traffic. The key management system (KMS) manages the life cycle process of encryption keys, including storage, generation, and revocation. To address increased Vehicle-to-Device (V2D) communications, AutoCrypt also provides PKI for V2D systems, in order to ensure the security of vehicles, mobile devices, and back-end service providers during communications.

Partnerships

The company collaborated with CHARIN to rollout of the combined charging system and PKI infrastructure for secure communication.[7] Additionally, Penta Security Systems and Hubject joined forces to enable secure communication in the EV Charging industry by enabling the first global cross-certification of V2G Root CAs for ISO15118 and to foster the adoption of standards to enable secure communication between electric vehicles and charging stations by realizing a cross-certification of theirs V2G Root CAs. Partnership announced with GridWiz to provide electric vehicle charging security in 2017[8] and in 2019, Joined the International Transport Forum] (ITF)'s Corporate Partnership Board.[9]
